MOC: The Waters of Mormon

Post by eNiGMa »

Hey all! It's good to be back on CC. I've been in a bit of a Lego "dark age" for a while, but I've had the itch lately to pull the bricks out and start building again. While searching for inspiration the other day for what to even build (because where do you start when you haven't built anything in so long?), I came across a series of vignettes I started building a number of years back illustrating scenes from the Book of Mormon. So, I thought I'd start there with a simple landscaping scene.

So, here is a scene from a place called the Waters of Mormon. Though it is religiously rooted, I would appreciate your feedback on the build itself. Thanks!

It would have been nice to move the tan-clad fig in from the edge one stud, and depending on where this is supposed to take place, I'm not sure about the parrot (I could be wrong though), but other than that, this is a very nice little vig and it conveys the action of the scene very nicely.

The second fig on the shore is a bit obscured by foliage as well.

(PS - Trans-dark blue is my favorite way to depict water, so you get bonus points for that! :D)

I would agree with AK brickster that the trees obscure some of the figs. By themselves the trees are nice however. I might also change the color of the spring water to be lighter in color than the river. The trans dark blue does work great for the river, gives it a clear but cold feel to it.
