Cathedral of st. Vitus

Post by Ryxe »

Hello,
this is my new MOC. I am building a model of St. Vitus Cathedral in Prague. MOC will be exposed to large LEGO exhibition on Lipno in the Czech Republic. So far, I'm doing the western part of the two towers and the entrance portal ...
I hope you will enjoy building :-)

I've never seen a cathedral done in a "Camo" color scheme before. Some of the detail is hard to see due to this (plus the yellow wall in the background). But then, this could be how the original looks, so :spin: Structure wise this looks to be a complicated build and appears that you're pulling it off quite well. Keep it up!

Thank you. I'm glad you like the cathedral. :) I chose these colors because the cathedral looked like the original. The model will have complete interiors that are illuminated.

Here is another step in the construction of the cathedral. This is about three quarters the height of the tower. Now I'm doing a large window above the main entrance.

I know you said the MOC will be on display in Prague, but do you have any kind of timeframe or deadline you hope to complete it by? I ask, because I can't wait to see the window above the entrance! Will it be stained glass?

I visited Prague last year and saw original building. What are you doing is amazing piece. Only size do not make great MOC. Level of details and accuracy of whole structure are realy stunning here. keep on good work.

My girlfriend started to build a Romanesque Basilica. Vit. It is the predecessor of the cathedral, which I am building. It will be built on the same scale to compare the architectural development of the Prague cathedral.
