Glitter and Glimmer

Shimmerock Cave is the subject of very mysterious folklore. Villagers near the Bloomwood will oft tell the tale of the Water Witch, a lost soul that guards the pool of healing water within the cave. Legend tells that the Water Witch was a princess who traveled to the Middle Continent from a faraway, unknown land with her injured lover many eons ago. She had learned of the healing properties of the pool, and sought them to save the life of her beloved. However, she arrived too late, and he died in her arms. Struck with massive amounts of anguish and pain, she perished. Her soul was unable to rest peacefully, and as a result guarded the pool, forbidding those who would benefit from its use by any means possible…

”What a bunch of superstitious nonsense!” Scott exclaims as he procures a vial to contain some of the magic liquid. Scooping it up and clasping the lid shut, Scott wheels around to behold a frightened Ryan.

“H-h-how do you know th-the Water Witch isn’t real?!” Ryan manages to fumble out, before unsheathing his dagger. Around them, the faint gleaming of various gold strains and ores flutter in the crisp air. Visibly nervous, Scott puts a reassuring hand on Ryan’s shoulder.

“Don’t worry. We’ll be out of here before you know it! See? I’ve got the liquid, and there’s no Water Witch to be seen!” As Scott begins to stroll towards the exit, a bubbling begins in the pool behind them. Faint at first, but growing very violent. The smile and confidence slips from Scotts face as a piercing shriek befouls the air.

”I told you! I definitely told you! But you didn’t listen - you never listen!” Ryan shouts as he runs for the light at the end of the tunnel. Holly’s bark echoes between the close-cropped walls as Scott bounds down the corridor. Above the pool, the ghastly figure of a long-dead princess hovers. Tears stream down her face as she cries out once more, shattering the wits of our brave adventurers…”

The next part of our adventure! A bit smaller than I'd have liked it to be, but in the end I'm satisfied with the result. Will the two make it out alive, or will the Water Witch end their lives as punishment for their trespassing? All this, and more, will be answered in due time! :)

C&C welcome.

Very interesting story and a cool scene to go with it. The walls look a bit flat in some places, but your fig posing is terrific :)

Yeah, I tried experimenting with adding various bits and bobs to the walls, but it ended up looking too cluttered. I couldn't find the right compromise between decorated and flat, so it ended up staying plain. The next scene I'm planning is out of the cave, so expect it to be much more organic. :) Thank you for the comment!
