Royal Castle - Tradesman's entrance

Post by andhe »

This is a build for the 'Lands of Classic-Castle' storyline over in the rpg forum. My character has hitched a lift on a waggon to the Royal Castle.

For the Royal Guards I was inspired by the 'Swiss Guard' that protect the Pope in the Vatican. They look ridiculous, but you still get the feeling that if you crossed them they would kick your backside into next week. The colours and faces were also chosen to reflect the 'classic' part of castle.

The full waggon can be seen here http://www.flickr.com/photos/andhe/9721361423/

Thanks for looking.

I like those guards a lot. They definitely do reflect the "classic" part of castle with their colors and shields, but the gold also gives them a new feel. The combination works well.

I agree. They really stand out as their own special group. Nice work!

Agreed with the guards! The gate is also very cool!

I really look the colors here. They feel very classic to me, and I love the classic colors. The red and blue are just a staple in the color scheme, and they work quite nicely here.

Those guards look pretty sweet and I really like the road leading up to the gate.

Thanks guys for your kind comments.

I wanted the guards to reflect a 'classic' feel, hence the basic colours and mainly classic smiley faces (apart from the head guard).
I don't have any of the old royal knights shields (lion head) or I'd have liked to use them.

I have another scene coming up, which is basically a rearrangment of the figs in this one, so I'll probably just add it to this thread when done.

Here is the second 'scene' using my previous MOC. My LCC character and his cousin unload a wagon while some suspicious looking bakers arrive with a large cake for the Queen's coronation.

I love what you did with Maldrake and the guards in the baker's outfits. That cake is built really well too. Hats off!
