More cloth skirts for female 'action' minfigs!

Post by Kev »

After playing with my new CMF pretzel girl in Series 11, I realized what was wrong with the CMF female elf warrior, and female viking warrior. The use of the 'wedge' skirt piece really transformed them from playable action figures to boring statues compared with the male figs.

The problem seems to be that while you wanted the minfigs to be clearly female, you were worried that with regular legs, they might too easily be confused with the males. That left us with somewhat boring 'statues'. Now if you took the skirt design of the pretzel girl, or other past figs, and just lengthened it and designed in the appropriate slits for free movement, you'd have both an unmistakably female figure, and a much more fun action toy.

That's a great idea and solution! Yeah, I tend to just switch the dresses out with regular legs for the female warriors. But it's not the same as having a long movable skirt for them to fight in. I agree and hope Lego makes more skirt designs.

After getting the Bavarian girl today, I strongly support this. We could have dress skirts, peasant skirts, and even battle skirts. There are a lot of different options to choose from.

Would any of our custom cape manufacturers be willing to experiment with designs? Since they already have the right kind of fabric, I mean.

Great idea of course. I made the comment when Series 11 was announced that I thought it was odd that the Pretzel Girl had a cloth skirt while other minifigs in the set had printed ones. I think this is a great opportunity for custom cloth makers and reached out to Capemadness a while back about doing this. I think it's only a matter of time, and with the 3 or 4 individuals on this site alone experimenting with fabric, the probability is pretty good. :)

The printing thing is key. The Pretzel girl is white & black, but there's no reason they couldn't add a third (or even more) color in there, which should be enough for most designs. I'm really excited by the idea of skirts split in the front or back, and ones with the hem cut on the bias or at an angle. They could really add to the look.

Great idea and I would also support and want this and that some customs would make these.
And if TLG would see and notice then that this is something that is needed and wanted they would take the cloth skirts one step or many and improve the design further :D

Bit late, but I think this is a really good idea. The 'brick' legs/skirts can have some nice printing on them, but I agree that a lot of female figs need new, flexible skirts. I do still like having the usual legs for long dresses e.g. for princesses.

I'm really happy that they made this version of Leia with a cloth skirt, I just wish it wasn't in such an expensive set. :?

That Leia figure is incredible, and has great possibilities with any of our LCC factions or castle sets. Either way, that cloth skirt shows there are many different ways they can incorporate the skirt. Thank you for posting that Aeridian!

Biggest problem i have with her is she is a fleshy! I still dont like fleshys much. But her head and hands can be replaced. The legs however, i havent seen straight yellow legs for a while. Plus remember all the ewokes can be used too. Just replace the heads.

That is a really nice fig. The cloth skirt to me just could come lower, and less jagged.

That Leia is nice! I hadn't seen that. Hopefully it's a sign of the direction Lego will be going in the future. No more statues!
