The Wandering Bog

After some time traveling down the river, the 4 acquantinces all became familiar with one another. Scott and Ryan told their tale, and explained the interference by their canine tag along back in the Bloomwood. When the time came for Harold and George to tell their end of the tale, the blue clad duo was unprepared for the enormity of their adventures.

As it turns out, George had been a wandering knight for years. Previously the son of a farmer in the hills of the Crown Kingdom, George left home at the age of 10. He originally set his sights for the city of Ardon, but was instead found himself traveling to the Wyvern capital of Lindon. There, he lived as a thief behind the city’s walls, acquiring a set of skills that would aid him later in life. When he had enough to survive, George left the city behind and sailed south to the Middle Lion Kingdom. Since then, he’s been wandering the Middle Continent for years, eventually meeting Harold.

Whereas George was nearing middle age, Harold was merely a year or two older than Scott and Ryan. Originally from the southern Dragon Kingdom, he lived a typical village boy life; falling into boyish love with a girl named Elizabeth he had been a friend with since childhood. When she traveled away with her family to a safer region in the wake of the Lion-Dragon War, Harold swore that they meet again one day. Young and lovesick, Harold set out from home to find his beloved. After getting into an altercation with a band of outlaws, Harold was left to die at the side of a forest path. Penniless and on the brink of death, Harold would have perished if it were not for a passing friend. That friend, of course, was a wandering George.

Aimless and alone, George welcomed Harold into companionship. Together, the two of them wandered realm without a care in the world, helping those in need or venturing into dark caverns and dungeons in search of gold. At the back of his mind, Harold still thinks of Elizabeth, and their latest venture down the river was in hopes of finding some information about her in the village of Minten.

“You are aware, though, that the Bloom River does not travel directly to Minten, correct?” Scott said, the words hanging in the misty air. “That, in between the two, there is the Wandering Bog, right? You know this?”

“Well, we do now!” George replied enthusiastically. Although both of them were by no means cowards, George was clearly the more brave and outspoken of the two. Harold was oft cautious and skittish. Together, they made a great team.

As the river began to flow less quickly and the marshlands appeared about them, Holly grew anxious and began to growl. No longer were they racing down the river. Now, they were entering the Wandering Bog, a massive marshland of deep, dank waters and sprawling undergrowth. Scott and Harold were trembling as the ship narrowly avoided getting tangled in the vines, while George stood on the bow of the vessel, daring the bog to try to dampen his spirits. Ryan laughed, and nudged the terror-stricken Harold to join in. It was going to be a long ride from here to Minten, it seemed…

The next installment is here! Albeit, this time around it's more story focused than usual, the reason being I had to explain the two new characters' backstories.

Now that the foursome (plus a dog) are in the middle of the Wandering Bog! What is so special about the Wandering Bog, one may ask? Well, you'll have to wait and see.

C&C welcome! :)

Very good story for this build, it explains a lot. The build itself is also quite effective, I really like the river banks and foam in front of the boat :)
