Built for this year's Mini Castle Contest. Finally got me a cause to build microscale, and finally the contest returned. Once again it makes me realise that microscale is what I like building the most, no doubt about it.
The contest's scale was game-fig, but I took the liberty of making my own miniminifigures instead. For some reason I don't really like the look of game figs, so it was a fine challenge to think of something new.

Re: Avell Castle
For a minute I thought this was minifigure-scale, not micro. The detailing is insane.

Re: Avell Castle
Superb micro-castle. Some of my favorite sections are: the round towers made from macaroni bricks, the roofs on the square towers, and the bridge ( nice use of that panel technique).
It looks like you used log (or palisade, whichever name you prefer) bricks in the wall sections instead of 1x1 round bricks, is that the case? Neat texture there. The layout of the build is quite attractive and you detailed everything well. Neat micro portcullis, but the middle of the gatehouse should be taller so that the portcullis could actually be pulled up. I think that's my only critique, lovely entry

Re: Avell Castle
Yes, these are palisade bricks. I like using them, because the texture they give is more even than of the round bricks. The only drawback is that they stick out of the wall from the other side, but here I managed to hide them behind the portcullis. Glad you like itsoccerkid6 wrote:It looks like you used log (or palisade, whichever name you prefer) bricks in the wall sections instead of 1x1 round bricks, is that the case? Neat texture there.
Yeah, it actually doesn't make much sense as it is. But sadly there was no space to squeeze a taller gate in.soccerkid6 wrote:but the middle of the gatehouse should be taller so that the portcullis could actually be pulled up.
