I don't think so :)

See the edited answer to 33 above.
josdu wrote:Plus, could I show one other with just the vehicle?
34 - Yes. One of the main reason to have multiple pictures is so that you can show both the whole scene and also individual details (or just multiple angles of the main scene).
josdu wrote:We can make a short story for every entry though, right?
35 - Yes, there is a place for description. However, the judging is pretty much on the MOC itself, not on the story that accompanies it.
mpoh98 wrote:Can the Secret Hideout category be fantasy? For instant floating castle? That is just an example, or have castles up on the tops of trees, etc?
36 - Yes.
josdu wrote:Oh and can I darken the pics? Thanks a lot!
37 - As noted in the rules "You may edit your images digitally, but only to clean up the images for presentation." This means you can do things like crop, size, adjust brightness/darkness, sharpen, edit out backgrounds, etc. What you can't do is use photo editing to somehow change the MOC (e.g. remove supports in Photoshop so it looks like something is flying, change the colors, edit together photos to make it seem like a larger castle, etc).
Rifiröfi wrote:A technical question: why is the resolution of the images limited to 800x600? ... 800x600 might be more than sufficient for a minifig category but in case of a huge castle you won't see much of the details. ... I have seen some soon-to-be-submitted entries, most of them will end up in the naughty list due to their size.
38 - First up, I should point out Josh's third point here, but I'll go further to explain. The reason to have a size limit is the same reason to have a limit on the number of photos, to make it actually possible to judge 400+ entries. 800 wide is about the appropriate size to fit in an open browser window. To see anything larger than this, you'll either have to scroll left and right to see the whole MOC (untenable for hundreds of entries) or, more likely, just automatically shrink things to the window size (which would remove any advantage of larger photos). And so, to keep things fair for everyone, there has to be a common size limit. If you are having problems with resizing the FAQ lists several resources.

Thanks a lot for answering but I reread the rules and found this:
"Composite images are only allowed to show some action feature (e.g. an inset photo to show falling axes or a trap door swinging)."
So, can I do a Composite image showing the trap? This is what the deference is with and without the trap open (Please don't look at the pics on flickr as there they weren't uploaded small yet) :

Dear Bruce,

I apologize if my question sounded like criticism, it was never my intention. Your argument regarding the resolution is more than reasonable, I did not think about that aspect. Peace?

Cheers

This is my first time entering the CCC so I apologize in advance if the answer to this question is well known, but are fantasy themes allowed for generally all the categories but realistic castle figure? Like magic, fantasy creatures etc.

If we build a MOC that has power functions, can a short video clip be substituted for one of our entry photos which shows that function in action? The video would be from a single viewpoint and would focus only on the powered feature, so as not to provide any unfair advantage in terms of displaying the MOC. Think of it as a moving photo.

Thanks

39 - Yes, but I should note that the more complex the background is, the harder it is to see and fairly evaluate the MOC. I would personally prefer more neutral backgrounds, but others are not forbidden by the rules.

40 - Yes, that is an accurate reading of that rule.
Rifiröfi wrote: I apologize if my question sounded like criticism, it was never my intention.
Don't worry, I took no offense.
jman44 wrote:This is my first time entering the CCC so I apologize in advance if the answer to this question is well known, but are fantasy themes allowed for generally all the categories but realistic castle figure? Like magic, fantasy creatures etc.
41 - I'm going to tentatively say yes, but will discuss with the other judges.
AK_Brickster wrote:If we build a MOC that has power functions, can a short video clip be substituted for one of our entry photos which shows that function in action?
42 - No. We've discussed this in the past and feel it would be a logistical nightmare. You could use the small inset picture format noted above to show a moving portion of your MOC at a couple of different points in the motion.

In the lighting category, can I make it a forced perspective creation? For example, since it has to be a minifig scale, can I have the minifigs be the main part in the center, but have a macro fig up close, and a microscale layout in the background?

Can we spraypaint parts for builds if the parts exactly match official lego colors?

For example I want to include a white ice dragon in one of my entries, but LEGO doesn't make white dragon heads, so can I spraypaint a gray one, white?

Okay, I have a question. Can we use custom parts (I'm talking about BrickForge, Brickwarriors, etc.) in the Custom Faction category?
And is customizing parts (Such as cutting and painting) allowed?

This might have been asked about before, but I felt the answer wasn't super clear. I wanted to be totally sure before I began work on it. ;)

See question 15 - scale mixing for forced perspective in an otherwise fig-scale MOC is allowed.

See question 11. Painting elements is a form of customization, and is therefore only allowed in certain instances.

Again see question 11 - customizing your faction is allowed in the 'custom faction' category.

Would a 40 x 40 baseplate be allowed for the dark age illumination category?

Thanks

It's not stated otherwise, so I guess that the general rule applies:
CCC Rules wrote:All entries should fit on 2 connected 32x32 baseplates or smaller unless stated otherwise in that category's rules. You may use a single 48x48 plate for your entry instead of the two 32x32 plates.
40x40 certainly does fit into 48x48, so I think you can feel free to use it. :)

43 Yes. Toltomeja quoted the size restrictions. Those are maximum dimensions. You can always go smaller.

So if you are allowed to do a forced perspective, are you allowed to make it like this? Where it is multiple different builds that create cool scene?
