Colossal Castle Contest: 11
Re: Colossal Castle Contest: 11
Category Custom Faction: we need to build a scene and submit max. 3 images. May we use one of those images as a collage concentrating on the heraldry on shields, flags, figures, etc.? Maybe taken out of the scene, before a neutral background?

44 - Your MOC needs to fit into the size restrictions.mpoh98 wrote:So if you are allowed to do a forced perspective, are you allowed to make it like this? Where it is multiple different builds that create cool scene
45 - No, you cannot do collage images. It would be pretty easy to have one of your images as a close-up that lets you see the heraldry.Rifiröfi wrote:Category Custom Faction: we need to build a scene and submit max. 3 images. What constitutes a medieval (castle) figure in the Custom Castle Figure categories?
Does it have to be strictly medieval or can it be ancient history-themed like Babylonian or Assyrian?

46. We have generally defined the castle era broadly between the fall of Rome in 476 and the great fire of London in 1666.royalbrickcustoms wrote:What constitutes a medieval (castle) figure in the Custom Castle Figure categories?

Hey! This might be a "noob" question, but I haven't seen it addressed yet aside from in passing : Why are the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit/Tolkien book themed builds not allowed (aside from Gawain and the Green Knight)? I know Classic Castle has a basis in actual history but it also has a lot of myth, legend, and fantasy included in the world of Roawia. Are other fantasy book/story themed builds allowed? i.e. Eragon, Game of Thrones, Godless World, Shannara, Dragonlance, etc.

47 - The premise of your question is incorrect. Tolkien and other fantasy authors are certainly allowed. I assume your misunderstanding comes from an answer earlier in this thread about what source material could be used in the "alternative model" category, in which you are asked to make a MOC using a single Castle set, and we asked people to use core Castle sets, and not other theme sets (including licensed themes).Ronin Dragonslayer wrote:Why are the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit/Tolkien book themed builds not allowed

Re: Colossal Castle Contest: 11
I apologize for a second question from myself, but this is my first CCC and I found the submission page, but I would like to know what link I should post. Should I post it to the CC forums first and use that as the link I submit or should I use the link on my Flickr photostream? And how do I post the image to the "image 1" box? Thanks!

Re: Colossal Castle Contest: 11
Sorry to ask a second question, but it's an important one. I have an entry photographed and want to enter it but I can't get it to resize to 800x600 (the required size for the original image as outlined in the "Naughty List" thread) even though I went to the suggested sites and tried to resize it; I can only seem to make it 200x200 regardless of how many times I try while the original is 2856x2142. Should I just add a flickr link to a 200x200 image (even though it's blurry now) and still have the full size image on the Castle Mocs entry thread I created? I'm just confused and bad with computers and don't want to end up disqualified or anything.

48 - The link should be to a gallery (Flickr, Brickshelf, MOCpage) that holds no more than three images of your entry. The image should be the url of just the image itself (that is, the address will end in ".jpg" or ".gif"), the same url you use when posting an image in the forum.Gavin of Lockwood wrote:I apologize for a second question from myself, but this is my first CCC and I found the submission page, but I would like to know what link I should post. BTW, I see that the entry page seems to be live, and several people have already submitted entries. I just wanted to get confirmation from Ben and Dave that they were done tweaking the code before making a general announcement for people to start submitting entries.
49 - Try using this resizing site. It's really quite easy - click a button to choose an image from your computer, fill in 800 as the max dimension, and hit a button to resize. You should place the resized image in your Flickr stream.Ronin Dragonslayer wrote: I can't get it to resize to 800x600 (the required size for the original image as outlined in the "Naughty List" thread) even though I went to the suggested sites and tried to resize it; I can only seem to make it 200x200 regardless of how many times I try while the original is 2856x2142. Re: Colossal Castle Contest: 11
Can we use altBricks leaves, or are they considered custom? I know that many purists still use then because they are so similar to official lego elements. In fact they are almost identical.

Re: Colossal Castle Contest: 11
FYI, it seems like some links to the "submit" and "view" entries pages are broken; if I come through the forum I can access them, but from the announcement on the frontpage I get a 404 error.
