Old Keep

Post by Dubbadgrim »

Hey Classic Castler's

I recently celebrated a big order of grey bricks by building this very simple keep - using a combination of old and new styles. I have also created a Flickr account to present the 'cover' pictures of all my creations. All the additional photos will be stored on Brickshelf.

Reminds me very much of Bob Carney's early castles, in a good way. Simple, clean, but at the same time it's clearly identifiable as an imposing keep. :)

Nice work on this! It looks like a great stronghold and I like how its doesn't have too many details on it. The rockwork built into the keep at the back is very nice as well. I have always liked Castle MOCs with the 'Big Gray Wall'. They bring a realistic change to the (excellent) detailed MOCs around the web. :)

Happy Building,

I adore this! I actually think my favorite detail is the path through the grass that is flattened. It gives a realistic feel of a pathway. Great work of this "Classic Castle."

I like this castle that it does have a (for lack of a better term) simplistic design to it. I can't help but notice though that an enterprising and nimble thief could scale the walls using the nicely crafted bricks that jut out from the wall slightly.

Sometimes the best strongholds aren't the fanciest. Great work on breaking up the flat wall with tiles.
