It had been a few days since the meeting with the King, and Cordelia was growing restless. She was confined to her room while the King dealt with other matters, presumably more pertinent ones. Robert came and went to the princess’ chambers, although he never brought much positive information to her.
One day, however, Archibald and Robert both returned to Cordelia’s room, alerting her that she was to spend the day socializing with Prince Martin. Excited, but a bit nervous, she was brought to a hallway where the boy prince waited, looking frail as ever.
Shaking all the while, the prince fumbled out a greeting for Cordelia, which she responded to with elegance. It was not difficult to appear graceful in front of Prince Martin, who oft looked as if he would break into tears. Archibald and Robert left the two to each other’s company.
“Well, my prince, what would you be interested in doing today?” Cordelia asked. She wished to be somewhere other than in the middle of the corridor, for one, and she hoped that some sort of activity would allow her to get to know her betrothed better.
“I was hoping to-to go t-to the li-library, Your Radiance.” Martin managed to squeak, averting his eyes from Cordelia’s own. He fumbled with his knuckles and shuffled his feet before spinning on his heels, prompting Cordelia to follow him.
After a quick walk through bare hallways, they had arrived in the library. While not extravagant, the library was much more lively than any other space in the castle. Iron backed shelves covered the walls, with various colored volumes and maps peeking out from them. Cordelia noted that Martin had eased his step somewhat, appearing more relaxed.
So this is where he feels most at home. Archibald did say he liked to read. Cordelia pondered. She was never one for books, although she was well read. Perhaps I could learn to love reading, for his sake.
Martin scrambled over to a tiny alcove, nearly hidden from the rest of the room’s view, and began picking out various illustrations and writings, stacking them in his arms. With his back facing Cordelia, she strolled quietly into the alcove.
“If you had not run over here, I would have never noticed this part of the library.” Cordelia started, but was interrupted by the young prince jumping, causing papers and scrolls to fly into the air and settle on the tiled floor.
“Oh, I-I am v-very sorry, Your Radiance. I w-was just going to, um, g-get a f-few documents and sh-show them to you… but I’ve dropped them all and made a fool of myself.” Martin looked mortified, as if he had failed in his only opportunity to impress the princess. He went to grab the papers. “Never mind, I will just put these away.”
Cordelia grasped his hand before he could go any further. She began, “No, don’t put them away. I would like to see what you have to show me, Martin.”
The boy turned bright red in the face, his frown morphing into a flustered smile. “Well, okay, Your Radiance. If you really want to see these dreary old maps and drawings, I guess I could show you them…”
“Martin.” Cordelia cut him off, although not without a touch of affection.
“Yes, You-Your Radiance?” he began, the nervousness showing through once more.
“You may call me Cordelia.” The princess giggled softly, prompting a smirk from Martin.
“Yes, well. Cordelia, I will show you, then.” Martin’s hand took hold of Cordelia’s own, she realized. No longer was it limp.
The windows of the alcove let in some of the midmorning glow, illuminating the manuscripts before them. The remainder of the day floated by, in between dozens of old scripts and poems. In the middle of it all sat two royals, hopelessly falling for one another in a cloud of youthful affection.

Nice story! Martin sure is short, for just being 4 years younger than her .

Lovely work! I really like the character development in this story! I'm loving all your characters so far and their various personalities! Can't wait for more. I also love seeing libraries built out of Lego, and this one looks great.

Re: Hidden Among Tomes And Scrolls
A nice installment, shown well in your MOC. I was going to say something about the quantity of books in the library, but then remembered that books were quite a rarity for most.

Great story and bookshelf designs! One thing I would change, though, would be to make the lighting suit your excellent writing by adding "the midmorning glow" coming through the windows.
