Not to throw a wrench in the plan, but the KC may not approve this one, as we would basically be "rewriting" whatever they have planned. Not to mention, a lot could happen in the next 5 months before BFVA. Keep in mind though, I am sure we can build something that doesn't have to be official lore.

We could recreate the GCIII or even do something else. But I am will be for anything (mostly  ) you all decide!

Maybe not, but we won't know until we ask, right? I don't know what the KC has planned, and if they allowed us to do this, they may have to change some things, that is possible.

That said, this is a rare opportunity to do something really big and impressive, and with so many LCCers jointly participating. I don't think the KC would have many opportunities to do something like this, so I think we have a lot working in our favor.

Also, remember that this potential assault on Maldrake and his fortress does not have to be a success- we are simply trying to build it. Who wins the battle could be chosen by the KC to best fit in with their plans.

As to the issue of the five months between now and BF VA, while a lot could happen, I think its a pretty safe bet that we'll still be in the midst of the rebellion. Remember that we've been under the iron foot of the queen for some months now, and rebels are still in the planning stages. Fighting hasn't even started yet, and when it does it will likely go on for quite a bit. The queen has a very firm foothold, and it would take a lot of battles to force her out, or for her to crush the rebels.

Either way, we do need to ask the KC first. I think Zachary would be the best choice for this task, because as FL of the outlaws he has presumably some pull within the KC.

Anyway, I think it would be good for LCC, it would really show that we (the builders) can have an impact on the global storyline, and make some real changes for Roawia with our actions, versus just building something that, while impressive, has no real impact and that, were it never made, would leave the world of Roawia in the same state as before. When the survey was taken of LCC members, one of the things that participants wanted to see was lasting and real changes to Roawia. Personally, I think it would be a mistake for the KC to completely ignore a large group effort of LCC builders to try and have an impact on the world. This would help show people that the story is not only driven by the KC, but by all the builders who participate in LCC, and would aid in our other purpose of inspiring others who see the MOC to join! I believe that the KC is there there to regulate the overall story of Roawia and make sure that it doesn't get out hand, versus being the only venue from which the story progresses, otherwise what's the point?

As for my vote, I'm with Zachary, Joshua and Lord Mercat. Let's run it up the flag pole and see if it flies. In fact, Zachary could just send a quick e-mail to the KC with a link attached to the conversation and let them see what we are thinking... :eyebrows:

While I wait on verdicts from all the members, we could work on dimensions for the collab. Seems reasonable that we can get a size down for the display even if they don't like the idea because then we can just apply it to another display idea.

So how big (or small) are we wanting to go? At this point I'm thinking a decent size, but not too giant. I figured the main tower and walls would just be one person's contribution as it'd be difficult to figure out where walls/towers would meet-up with several people going at it. Although I'm a rookie for displays so if this is not the case than disregard my nonsense. :)

Maybe something about half the size of the Brecourt Manor display last year? http://www.flickr.com/photos/patrickctaylor/9444992506/
I'm sure Gary already remembers the scale of the display pretty well.

Awesome, sounds like a good idea to start discussing size. I think a lot of how big the display will end up being, depends on the total amount of figs we have to put in said display. A battle with 400 total figs would presumably be a smaller display than one with 800 figs. That said, I like the size of the moc you used as an example, that looks like a good place to start.

As to how exactly to divvy up construction, I'm not sure. I assume the tower and walls would be one person, and then the terrain and base might be either everyone, or one other person. And then we'll need siege engines as well. Siege towers, a battering ram, giant ladders, ballista, catapults etc- I would love to build some wicked cool siege engines for this.

I guess then we need to decide the scale of the battle. How many figures do we want to use?

Well after doing some quick math I've added up our collective forces.

Outlaws - 755-770 (Thanks for the 600 troop boost Schmidt  )
Lenfels - 260-275
Garhims - 140-150
Loreesi - 185-195

So low range we're looking at ~1340 Figs, high range ~1390 figs.

I suggest we shoot for an even number of figs between 1000-1300. If we use 1000 figs that'll leave us a ton of breathing room in case somebody drops out, same around 1300 but a little less so. If Schmidt for whatever reason can't make it we're basically done for with Outlaws

If the Napoleonic display was around 1000 figs, I see no reason why we couldn't go around the same size. In terms of restriction the only other one I see now would be brick/time supply.

What do you guys think? :)

Also, the KC said we're OK to roll with the Maldrake idea.

WAHOO! Awesome. And I think a 1000 fig display would get huge amounts of attention. It will take a bunch of time to set up, so we should only do this if we have at least 5 of us there, otherwise it will be agony.

Need to get an entry into the Brickfair webpage ASAP to reserve this space. Bring on those armored Rancor Trolls, Lord Mercat!

Hoho, you better believe it! I've got the three I've posted, three more that I haven't posted, and I may add a few more. The ones I have all use the basket on the back as attachment points for the face and back armor (yes, the pictures don't show it but they are armored from behind) I'm currently working on a variant that does not have the basket.

I think we should shoot for 1200 total, that way even if we have someone drop out, we can still try and get over 1000 figs all told. After we've got a hold on how many figs, I think we'll need to go ahead and start divvying up how exactly this project is going to be built/who is doing what, etc. Also, I think on the good guys side of things we will need siege engines!

All this aside, since we are now doing a major storyline event, I think we would also benefit from building this up over the time period towards Brickfair VA in each of our character's stories IF your LCC character will be present at the showdown. A few collaborations (not necessary, but would help build up to this event) between those participating might be cool to help build this up- as in general story collaboration, not necessarily building collabs, sort of like what I've seen Caelan do with Rifirofi, or Schmidt and Luke the Swift do at some point- How did these forces come to assemble, and who is the mastermind behind this assault? For this purpose I am curious about who your forces are that will be present, for everyone attending. As in, are you bringing any specialty forces, or are they just regular garhim/loreesi/lenfel troops? IE, Caelan has his famous Lenfel Scout Snipers. I will be bringing along the Loreesi elves of Grav'Raeyl (25) and some Loreesi Knights Templar (25), Garheim's legendary Silverhawks (50), and Lenfald's Emerald Wolves mercenary company (100).

Either way, good to see we are finally going to be gearing up for a major strike back at the queen!

Awesome!! :D Zach, thanks for adding up the total number of figs, I greatly appreciate it.

I agree with 1200, it not too big a number, but it'll still look really cool, even if someone has to drop out.
As for the siege engines, I think it's a great idea, I have two small catapults, and one ballista. As far as divvying up the project, I'll work on that, but I'm going to be busy with a lego train show over the next couple of days, so I won't have time post for a bit.

All this aside, since we are now doing a major storyline event, I think we would also benefit from building this up over the time period towards Brickfair VA in each of our character's stories IF your LCC character will be present at the showdown... - How did these forces come to assemble, and who is the mastermind behind this assault?
Fantastic thought. We need to start preparing our characters, even now, to all make a grand entrance at this thing. My character, in-game, was just knighted. In his story-line, he's going to become a commander of a small force of troops. As his story progresses, he is going to continue to gain fame among the queen and eventually receive huge promotions.
By the time the convention rolls around, he is going to be a huge leader in the Queen's army. I am thinking that Silas (my LCC character), could be stationed to Maldrake's fortress after news of this major assault catches wind. My character can take his sizable army to the fortress and defend it. Or, if that is too much, then he could be arriving with a huge host of reinforcements sent from the Queen herself? Any thoughts?

Ultimately, as Lord Mercat has stated, I think we need to have a story with this, and plan out just how each one of our in-game characters got involved.

I will be bringing regular Outlaw soldiers (not the mindless, hairy, bearded ones, the dragon ones), including heavy infantry, light infantry, cavalry, and ranged units. I can bring specialty troops, like rangers, war hounds, siege units, etc., if needed. I also have a huge host of Orcs/goblins/trolls/ogres I can bring if necessary.

I think we need a firm idea on how the battle will take place by the end of this month, that way we can plan accordingly.

For example:
-If Maldrake's fortress is under attack, we need more Lenfels, Garhims, and Loreesi than Outlaws, and my large force might not be needed.
-We wouldn't need Outlaw siege weaponry.
-We wouldn't need Outlaw armored siege trolls (like mine and Lord Mercats)

Would there be any combat, if a fortress is sieged?
Or, would a battle be taking place outside the fortress with both forces? If the battle is outside the fortress, then there would be a need for heavily armored trolls and warbeasts for the Outlaws.

Hey guys,

How many collaborators plan to go?

I was going to make up some custom cape (and banner) "treat bags" for collab participants.

Can one of you PM me an estimate?

I don't care to go ahead and register this MOC if we get some kind of dimension in mind.

What other LCC themed builds does everything think we should bring?

I think we need to bring a vignette of each faction, just to show the four factions outside of combat in their respective zones (Loreesi in desert, Garhims in snow, Lenfels in trees, Outlaws in swamps). If we could have one volunteer from each faction make one, that would take care of that.

I don't care to do a vignette for Outlaws.
But what else should be brought along?

I had hoped to build one MOC for the Civil War theme with my Union and Confederate troops, but if the LCC collaboration gets going full steam, I would say my full attention would go in that.
