6044 King's Carriage vs 7092 Skeleton Prison Carriage

Hey all,

Two sets enter the arena, only one can emerge victorious! Set 6044, the King's Carriage, versus 7092, Skelton Prison Carriage. Which castle set reigns supreme? Vote and share your thoughts on these two sets.

This one is a hard one bruce! Both are nice sets. However I had to go with the skelleton set as I like the skeleton horses much beter. I hope you have more disscussions like this one coming!

Semi-Classic era for the win! Though Skellies were a memorable faction to be sure.

My first thought was, "Man, 6055 was a good carriage." Can't go back in time, so I'll play along.

I don't really like either of these designs. They seem too open and spread out. I voted for skeletons because it is better designed for it's intended purpose, and for the cool triple-horse hitch.

I'm not a big fan of any LEGO carriages, they never seem quite right, but here I think the Skeleton carriage was more visually interesting, so it gets my vote.

I Voted for the Kings Carriage. The Skellies had no use at all, in my opinion, and just detracted from, "real" minifigures (not to mention horses) that were included in sets. The more classic kings carriage is nice, although a bit blocky.
What I like about the Kings Carriage is the four minifigures and 2 horses for 16.50! a Great price. I also really like the cloth flag, something I think the LEGO company could use more of in the more modern sets.

Battle of the garish carriages. 6044 dissapointed with its flimsiness, even though there had not been an equivalent set for some time, whereas 7092 advertised its failings on the box (if you are not an undead fan, these sets were inferior versions of the fright knights...) So, unusually for me, I have to side with the brilliant figs included in 6044, it also featured a knighting scene on the back, one of the only times lego advised putting the legs on a figure backwards...

I have very fond memories of King's Carriage from my childhood, looking at it again now I can see that the design leaves a few things to be desired though. However, as has been said, it comes with excellent figs, and quite a bunch of them for that price, the flag is also really nice. I for one never really liked the skellies, and their horses don't quite work for me. That carriage has quite a fun design but overall I think the King's Carriage is better.

As far as the actual carriage goes, I think the I like the skeleton one more, but I've never really handled the Royal Knight one. I recall it being a bit to tall for my tastes, if I remember my brother's.

But I had to cast my vote for the Royal Knights one anyways. Better fig selection, two real horses (As opposed to three skeleton and one normal) the flag, and I have a lot of nostalgia for the Royal Knights. My first castle sets were Royal Knights.

As a fan of the skeletons, I had to vote for 7092. To me it has a better figure selection, the King's Carriage for me really only has three figs as how many kings do I need... Plus I love the skeletal horses...

I'd love to see a reprise of the skeleton army with the new bent skeleton arm...

I'll have to put my vote in for the King's Carriage it just has a overall nicer look. The skeleton one just looks way to big and tall.

I'm not particularly a fan of either carriage design. I would normally vote for the classic set, and I certainly appreciate the figs and accessories in 6044. Also, I'm not a huge fan of the skellies, but I voted for 7092 because of the inclusion of the black skellie and the three skellie horses.

Nor I. I don't own either of them and I'm not sure which I'd go for. I do however own the King's Carriage Ambush which I think is pretty good.

I have both these sets... and both are somewhat underwhelming to build. The skeleton one, in particular, feels out of scale with the castle in the same theme, but this is a charge that can be levied against both. Fig-wise, the Royal Knights have the slight edge, since (in part due to the Royal Knights) I've never been able to consider skeletons as "real" minifigs--more like the Castle version of battledroids. On the other hand, skeleton horse are AWESOME while plain white old-fashioned horses were as vanilla as they came--especially without any saddles.

The skeletons have the edge on the playability side. This is a bad thing where the design of the carriage is concerned, because it means a lot of less-than-useful parts (all those spikes and horns!), as well as a distinctly unlovely image. The skeleton carriage is, on that note, NOT a display set. On the other hand, it comes with an opposing knight, which provides instant conflict, and it has always seemed plausible to me that the princess seen kidnapped in the skull mountain set was probably transported there in this carriage. Meanwhile, the Royal Knights have... a treasure chest? By 1995, those were hardly new.

So it's a bit of a toss-up. Nostalgia wins flat out for me, but taking things more objectively, these are each somewhat mediocre.
