What Web Host Should I use?

I am thinking about making a castle website. What I am wondering is, what is the best FREE web service I can get? I'm too poor to pay, just so you know, and some help finding one would be appreciated.

best of luck finding a FREE web hosting that actually lets you put a lot of stuff on it, or you could sigh up mat lugnet (pay $10) for a life time thing and you can also get a webpage at lugnet...

I use Geocities. It's not great, but it's incredibly easy (I'm so freaking computer illiterate), and it comes free with a Yahoo account (also free).

Hello!

If you are using a free web host I wholeheartedly suggest you store all your LEGO-pics on BrickShelf and just link them from there to your html-LEGO-Castle-page on your free webspace. So you are able to show those pics also in this forums while many free webhosts do not allow deep links.

Why make a lego castle site when you have CC for all your Lego castle needs?

But, I think the best option would be to use Lugnet, if you join. It is much easier than making a page on Geocities or Angelfire (as I have had problems with these before). If not, you can always make a lego club page.. they are free and really easy to do.

Of course, as you have limited storing capacity on free space.

I would make a site to have it be more personalized. I may even do a storyline, though perhaps we have too many of those. As for using Lugnet, no can do, because then you have to pay money. I will probably make it with geocites. As for a Lego club page... are you insane? :wink:

Lugnet is 10 dollars for life. It is by far the cheapest high-quality option out there. I wouldn't trust Geocities with a simple page of my dog Gunther. Geocities is totally unreliable.

And hey, if you've got enough money for LEGO sets, I am sure you can scrape together 10 bucks.

I've had mine for probably about 5 years now (plus 3 others, 1, 2 and 4 years old), and I've never had a problem.
Go with whatever you think is best, obviously, but anything that can be set up in less than 5 minutes is all right in my book.

Maybe I will use Lugnet, but I actually used to have an account. Then I lost the email with my password and stuff because of a virus, so I couldn't log on. Evil....

Email the LUGNET admins, you should be able to get your password reset.

It happened to me a while back, and I got a new one.

If you own the domain name (ie: bbbbb.com) I'll host the html part for you. Currently I'm kinda pushing it with my ISP for bandwidth running 3 domain names w/ALL the images (about 4000 images) included. I have tons of space for free but the bandwidth concerns me a bit. In the world of web presence it can be done cheaply, all 3 domains cost me less than $30 a year just for the .coms. Everything else is free and easy.
