I am not going to go through these one at a time, but just a couple of quick notes. Buckbeak will add greatly to my fantasy playing - any winged creature usually does. and in the Knight bus set to the right - is that a dog?
And of course the shrieking shack will be great for house parts (although at fifty bucks a pop I will definitely be waiting for a sale. )

I saw these this morning but wasn't sure about your policy here.
Love Buckbeak! The dementor seems to be dark grey and the one eyed witch statue in the marauders map set is awesome. Of note to parts monkeys, Sirius Black's escape seems to have a new part in it---A 4x4 macaroni curve! Four in dark grey and two in tan, this is a piece I've been wanting for a long time and now what a nice way to have a town well of a decent size or top off a tower that uses 4x4x6 curved panels on it's corners.
Personally, I think these are the best Potter/Parter sets to date.

Trust me, I think I'm funnier than you do.
Why do I have to add the word "minifig" to my spell checker every time I use it?!

Look at this one. http://store4.yimg.com/I/dragonballzcen ... 4_77842221
Something I don't understand. They are pieces on this set I don't understand the function. It's like they put ramdomly pieces on top to complete the set. Not very nice.
However, they are nice sets and I like particularly the inclusion of the dog or wolf.

Re
David, perhaps it will make a little more sense as to why they did that when we see the building the set is based off of. I just hope there is more than one minifig in it.It's like they put ramdomly pieces on top to complete the set

Did Lego say it was ok for us to show leaks?
IMO... its probably a good thing to have these so-called leaks. You know why, they're another form of product promotion! It generates anticipation for the consumers knowing that the company they trust is coming out with good or at least decent products.
Heck, I was excited about the Gryffin piece, thats what I really wanted most. Sure the minifigs became racialized, but.... they can turn up useful for each of us one day.

Hi all,
My thoughts on the sets:
Oh, SPOILER WARNING (though if you're looking at the set pics and reading this thread you already have probably read the book).
Draco and Buckbeak: That Buckbeak is really cool. Unfortunately it's the only thing in this set, except maybe the new pattern book, that I really want--I've already got several Dracos (albeit yellow, but I'm not overly thrilled by the peach), and the few other pieces are common. So the question for me is will I be able to Bricklink Buckbeak for less than $6.00? If so I'll just do that instead of getting the set.
Marauder's Map: This is my least favorite. Aside from the minifig statue (ghost?) it's all common pieces. The use of the potions scroll instead of a new printed tile for the map is a disappointment (or is this not the final product?).
Lupin's Class: If you've got Hogwarts and some of the other Hogwarts sets (e.g. Snape's Class), this is a great addition. Presumably there is a wolfman fig behind the rotating panel so you can make Lupin change. I'll definitely get one of these.
Sirius' Escape: Lame lame lame. If those are truly new macaroni pieces that is cool, but I'm sure they'll start showing up in other sets, so that doesn't tip the balance for me on this set. Why is there no Dementor? That would make this set more buyable. I'll Bricklink a Sirius rather than buy this set.
Knight Bus: Very cool. I love all that purple. Also Padfoot.
Hogwarts Express: I don't mind rereleases, but I find it offensive that they seem to have put a Dementor only in this one set to get people to buy it, especially when you'd really want to have several Dementors and one Harry, rather than a huge pile of Harrys and one Dementor unless you want to shell out lots of cash.
Shriek Shack: Good design, lots of good pieces for Castle or Town builders. I wonder if there are more figs (e.g. Peter Pettigrew human form). What's the construction at the bottom for?
Hagrid's Hut: A good set, but I prefer the first version, even with the fake roof. I do like that this set seems to close up into a complete building with four sides. I'm a little confused as to the reason for the seemingly random color scheme, but this set will have many parts for Castle or Town builders, especially if you wait for a sale.
Overall, a couple of losers, a couple of real winners, and a few in the middle. The only thing that really bothers me is the thing about the Dementors.
Bruce

Hmm... With "racially correct" minifigures, I think I may semi-boycott these sets and only buy the figs, Buckbeak, and Doggies on B-Link. Hopefully they will be yellow...
Sad to think that after 25 years of our yellow friend, we suddenly might have those guady sun-burnt crap-pieces heaped on us. Perhaps I'm not being politically correct, but I don't give a ShiftyBrick.

You guys are talking about HP sets like they're the
new castle sets...sheeesh...oh let's get all up in arms
because Lego is "coloring" the licensed characters.
None of this would be happening if it were not for the
Lando color decision. We now have black people, and
we will now have white people too. Get over it.
If you don't like it, just don't buy it. I will be buying as
many "whites" as I can, but that's me. It's good that
we will have that option finally, giving both "color-camps"
the ability to buy what they really want. It's all about
choice. Having choices tends to make people happy,
as opposed to having to settle for what others like.
It's not the end of the world, by any means.

has anyone laid substantial claim to the fact that these figs are racialized? from looking at the photos, they look yellow to me, under poor lighting. The other colors in the photos look somewhat strange as well, and in some shots the figs are definitely yellow. I wish lego would stay "race-neutral" (since nothing else in the world seems to be) but I don't think we have an issue here. Anyone have any press releases or definite statements that we've got non-yellow people here? Or are we going off these sketchy quality photos?
