These are the best of the bunch in my opinion. Back then, with only a few sets, one could make something that could even come close to looking like an offical Lego set. Nowdays, it is hard to be creative. Lego insists on forcing big premolds and set with almost no basic bricks down our throats
As I said, these alternative models are great. I like the Black Knight's castle, and I find it especially ironic that the Black Falcons are with the Black knights as I scan the Roleplay threads. That brings back another thought - the storylines that the Lego group forces in nearly every theme. Intead of letting kids have options, you are confronted with the "good" guys and the "bad" guys. Back then you could pick what faction you liked and play with it. There were no predetermined things back then. The Lego group gave us good pieces and figures and encouraged us to use our imaginations.
Now, all of this has been said before, but that is what I started thinking as I looked at these structures.
