Hey all,
Just a quick suggestion. If you want to link a really huge pic on brickshelf, e.g. this one: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=857516, but the pic is too large to paste into your post, you can also paste in the thumbnail. When you are looking at a brickshelf gallery, on a mac you can control-click (I believe on a PC this is right-click) the image and "copy image location". This url will look a little different:
full pic url: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Cyin/MP/mp003.jpg
thumbnail url: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Cyin/ ... _thumb.jpg
when you use the latter url in bbcode using [ img ] url [ /img ] (without the spaces), the result will look like this:

Thanks for sharing Bruce.
I have actually wondered how to do this for a while, as I have seen lots of people post like this, but I was too shy to ask.
Now I need to find a reason to post something!
Jon.

When it's linked, the code looks like this:

Would result in,
I thought I'd add that: It's how I post a MOC, usually. A couple linked thumbnails.
Code: Select all

Hmm, I tried it a few times but the picture is not showing. All it does is show a square with a red X. What am I doing wrong?

Hello!
For example (it's pure chance the mostest recentest pic I see on BS is a CC-related one ;) ):
leads to:
But the URL of the PICTURE is
http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/lordo ... 3-figs.jpg
So in order to let a picture show up in a post you have to insert the URL of the picture:
To get the URL of a picture you right-click on it and
a) using IE click "properties" -> mark the URL -> right-click "copy" and then paste it in here.
b) using Mozilla/Netscape/Opera just right-click on it and choose "Copy URL of the picture" (or similiar description. Dunno, my version is German) -> paste it in here.
That's working with the thumbnail preview pic as well as with every picture in the world wide web (Unless some hero implemented some Javascript that doesn't allow right-clicking.)
c) BrickShelf offers another option. When the picture shows up in the gallery page you can click on it again and it will show up without the gallery page framing it. In this case the URL appears in the Address line of your browser. mark -> "copy" -> "paste"
Remember: The URL of a picture MUST end with *.jpg *.gif *.bmp or a similiar picture extension. Of course it doesn't help to copy the URL of the gallery page and simply add a ".jpg" manually ;)
Bye
Jojo
You probably do not link the URL of the PICTURe but the URL of the BrickShelg gallery page with the picture in it. This gallery page cannot show up as a picture if linked as that.TheBohrok wrote:Hmm, I tried it a few times but the picture is not showing. All it does is show a square with a red X.
