I also build in olny one theme. I do purchase outside the castle theme, but always with an eye for what I can use for castles. I find that as a castle builder, bricklink is a better resource as is S@H for the bulk brick. No sets really conatin all the pieces that we as AFOLs want to build our castles, so for myself almost every retail purchase is a compromise; save on shipping costs and have pieces I don't need or pay for shipping and get only the parts I want. It is a compromise. Oh to live anywhere close to a Pick a Brick... Anyway, people should feel free to build in whatever theme they prefer. If someone only wants to buy castle sets then good for them. We all have different styles and thats what make building interesting.

After a long absence, I have returned. I can't wait to start building again.

Yup. Over the last few years I have really only built the odd Star Wars creation. Now that I have decided to give in to my old love for castle, my wife is afraid for our bank account. So...yes it can get expensive to build in more than one theme but is it worth it to you? LEGO is great because you can do what you want on any given day.[/i]

Trust me, I think I'm funnier than you do.
Why do I have to add the word "minifig" to my spell checker every time I use it?!

Over the last year or two, as I have come out of my dark ages, I have been building in 3 differant theams. Castle, Space and Starwars. I do notice that it gets quite expensive. As a resault I am starting to focus on Castle only. I would have to agree with wlister, Bricklink seams to be the best way to aquire pieces. I was thinking about opening a bricklink store to sell of the pieces I dont want. I am hoping that would allow me to buy more retail. Does anyone have any sugustions this? I dont actually plan on trying to *make* money, just help support the habit. Anyway my two sence worth.

Hello!

My 2¢....

I collect and build almost every Minifig scaled theme. It costs me the biggest part of my monthly income but as long as you don't have other hobbies besides LEGO... (Don't drink and build! Quit smoking! Buy milk products beyond their expiry date! Sell your car! Don't hold a girl friend that begs you for diamond earrings and a new pair of shoes once a week!)

As stated before collecting several LEGO themes feeds you with a wide range of parts. Some (if not many) of these parts are not really useful for castle buildings, however, you never know. Someday you will need exactly THIS or THAT part you previously thought was meant for the trash can only.
And besides, LUGnet costs, this doesn't.
Lugnet doesn't necessarily cost. For reading and writing you don't have to be a member and pay a fee.

Time to search my bed.

Bye

Hi Dragon Master,

Very short and offtopic posts aren't too useful  Somethings might be better for a private message. But to let you know - Jojo lives in Germany and it was quite late when he wrote the post. Jojo likes to stay up late to hang out here and at other Lego sites. :D

Thanks,

On CLSOTW, there are rumors of it's resurrection. I'm supposed to be involved at some level, but it's sort of waiting on issues at the programming end. The main problem with CLSOTW, IMO, is not the infrequent updates, but the fact that only 20 people vote each time.

If and when the programming problems are resolved I suspect that the people on tap to help out will get into a weekly groove. Once that happens, I think the number of voters will go back up. That's my hope anyway.

DragonMaster,

For LEGO bricks, of course. You know how uncomfortable it is to roll over and find a 2x4 poking you in the night? :) Not as bad as stepping on them with bare feet, but painful nonetheless.

Lar,

I don't know about the connection between regularity and voting. There was a time a year ago when they were putting up a poll every week (or maybe it was every two?) and there were still relatively few votes. With the volume of daily posts on Lugnet it is very disappointing that more people couldn't take the time to skim a few websites and click on a vote.
