It depends on the kind of light.
But I would asume that the christmass lights would start a fire if they were hot enough to waste LEGO.

Hello!

I once managed to destroy a black round-top windowframe with a 60 Watt bulp when I tried to enlighten the interior from outside...

Hello!

I wanted to take a cool pic from the interior of a building through the door, illuminated through the window. It wasn't cool but hot, the pic turned out blurred (I deleted it) and the window turned out melted (I didn't delete it, though. It's still usable.)

I don't think the little christmas lights would do much harm because I don't think they get very hot.

Sounds like a good idea, hope it works out.

I've done the same as Jojo with a desk lamp. In lighting this scene:

I built an enclosed room and held the desklamp up to a hole in the ceiling. The scene worked great but unfortunately I melted a few bricks in the process.

X-mas lights are cool enough to the touch, so I would say that they are safe to use with your LEGO. If you're still worried about it, check out a craft store, where they should have strings of even smaller, lower wattage bulbs that run on a couple of AA batteries.

The Greek letter for X is uses in Greek as an abbreviation for the original Greek form of Christ.

Hence X = Christ.

X-Mas = Christ-Mas

Xmas = Christmas

on topic...

you know awhile back (ok a long while back) i had had the idea to make landing strips by using the road plates and some flashing lights (like you put on a tree during yule season). I was going to drill holes in the baseplates, and tape them into the holes..
fortunately I came to my senses in time. :D
