I need your opinion

Post by Trigger »

Ok, I'm not sure where htis goes but I need your opionion on which war my novel should be centered on. I'm thinking about either the 100 years war or the Saxon invasion of Britan. But open to any opinions you have.

Knowing nothing about you, your writing style, or what you are trying to accomplish with your novel, I don't think anybody can give you a good answer.

For example, are you trying to write non-fiction, or historical fiction? How many characters are you planning to focus on? How much writing experience do you have? A novel is not something to leap into.

I would recommend choosing a setting that is not too complicated because it will make your writing easier. If you choose some point in the 100 years war, you might need an entire novel's worth of words just to cover the background information.

Finally, I hate to say this, but if you have to ask, then you probably aren't yet ready to be writing a historical novel. You really should know what you want to write about. It is your novel, after all.

I'm planning on focusing on four charecters. I've been writing all my life. It will be historical fiction. Answer any questions?

I'm planning on focusing on four charecters.
The Crusades had some interesting characters.....
*King Richard The Lionheart
*Saladin
--can't remember anyone else

The Invasion of England (1066 A.D.)would also be good...
*William Duke of Normandy "William the conqueror"
*King Harold
*Hardrada King of Norway
-King Edward of England died and all 3 of these guys claimed rights to the throne

I meant four charecters in the same Freelance. But your idea is also good. Each chapter switching between the four charecters would give a cool dimentionality to it.

Hmmmmmm...That would be cool. Maybe I could write like five books about one charecter in different stages of the Middle Ages.
