Viking Scans and Names
Viking Scans and Names
For those who missed my update in the original post, someone on eurobricks has posted a set list. I can't confirm its authenticity, but here it is nonetheless:
7015 The Viking Challanges the FenrisWolf
7016 The Vikingboat against Kraken
7017 The Vikingcatapult against Nidhögg the dragon
7018 The Vikingship dares the Midgårdsnake
7019 The Vikingfortress against Fafner the dragon
And a link to the thread:

A definite mythological angle - I would suspect in part to keep the Vikings focused on evil Beasties rather than slaying unarmed monks.Athos wrote:For those who missed my update in the original post, someone on eurobricks has posted a set list. How does one properly do the Midgårdsnake? Are there enough LEGO pieces to circle the earth? And would they be able to keep it to $90?
Anyway, we'll just have to wait and see about the accuracy of these claims. A smaller Viking boat, a longship, and a fortress all are something to hope for.

Wow! I must say, I am impressed. I really don't care for most of the sets, or the beastsFor me, (the Viking Ship is the real highlight here), but the Minifigs are some of the best I've ever seen. First of all, the horns are detachable! The figures themselves seem to have some of the coolist beards ever! And the helmets... Finally we have some helmets worthy of the early middle ages(1000-1100 AD)!
Even the Midgårdsnake looks cool (allthough the rest of the beasts are average). The only letdown is the Viking Fortress, which looks really red in these photos. Still, these are leaps and bounds beyond anything we've seen in the past decade!
The funny thing is, lego has never looked so playmobil, yet I haven't been this excited for new sets since I was a kid! I can't wait.
Later.

First things first, hullo everyone...long time reader...first time poster....blah blah blah.
Now onto these Viking sets. One word...WOW. I still didn't quite believe that we'd be blessed with such an awesome theme even after that blurry photo, but after seeing those new photos on eurobricks, all I can do is prostrate myself before the Lego Company and promise them my firstborn. Haven't felt this way about TLC since I first heard they were doing Star Wars.
Hammers...axes...new beards...awesome Bionicle-type fantasy monsters...a Viking fort...too much goodness...suffering sensory overload!
Again...WOW.
Can't wait to get my hands on these sets. There's hope for TLC yet!

There's a NEW WARHAMMER! And a NEW BATTLE AXE! Both are just the heads, with removable sticks. And there's a Viking maiden! And new Beard pieces! And at least 2 different types on new helmets, in at least 2 colours. And the helmets have REMOVABLE horns!
THANK YOU LEGO! This is a day that we, as castle fans, will long remember.
*Edit* Upon closer scrutiny, I see that the battle axe is even better than I thought. It's not a double sided axe peice, it's a single bladed piece of which 2 can be put together to make a double bladed axe. Or 4 sided.
The helmets are a curious colour, almost a rub n buff colour. They appear to come in 3 colours, though. The rub n buff, black, and that new chrome.
The shields are a mixture of 3x3 radar disks, and 3x3 technic disks with a neumatic T joint piece.
There's a figure holding a warhammer who has a classic flared helm in new Chrome, with new Chrome Euro armor.
Mmm...this is so kool.

When I saw the first few threads, I was positive they were MOCs and that someone let their imaginaiton get carried away, or was playing a cruel trick. These prove that it is real, and I am impressed. The sets look pretty good, nice amout of figs and definately adaptable to castle creations if that is what you want them for. I don't know much about Viking mythology, but these look really cool. Very nice TLC!
I can't complain.....I wanted a Viking Fortress & I shall have a Viking Fortress!!!!
The removable horns was a good idea.......although I think they look kinda cool.
Some of those parts I can use to create an army of Saracens or Seljuk Turks. (the circular shields & helmets (without horns) could work)
Thank you Lego!!!
I will now go sacrifice a Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich in your honor!!!

Wow... wow and wow...
I must say, these sets do look impressive...
I can't wait to get my hands on these, anyone know when they'll be released in Europe?
But, there's always a "but", according to Norse Mythology, the Kraken should be like the size of an island... But of course only mythology geeks (like me) know that kinda stuff.
The Midgårdsorm is well made though, but the rest of the evil creatures aren't that succesful, too much bionicle there...
Oh yeah, and one more thing, if this is mythology does some of the minifigs represent Odin, Thor, Loke, Frej, Balder etc? Or do we get to see them in later sets?
Oh and one more thing where are the evil ones who always oppose the gods, the so-called "Jætter"?
But hey, don't take me wrong these seem like very good sets indeed. And the fact that we even get to see Vikings in Lego is great. And now I need to earn some money for all those lovely sets...

Those monsters...could they have spawned from that CC thread about using Bionicle parts for creatures? Well if I ever get those sets...I'm taking those odd Bohrok claws off of the fortress...
With the beards and new weapons...I can finally make some decent dwarves...which is always good...
My only real complaint is that it does not look like the old short swords are back...
