I am so very excited about these! Haven't been this excited about a Lego line, since I saw the Fright Knights sets on a store shelf. Only thing I don't like, like everyone else, is the bionicle monsters. Does anyone know when we'll be seeing these in the stores?

My observations about the sets:

v. Wolf set:
-Nice way to get a fully equiped viking cheap.
-Not real keen on the wolf

v. Kraken set:
-Looks like one of the better ones
-Two vikings, three helmets
-Nice larger boat
-Green snake
-Kraken is a decent monster

v. Midgard Serpent
-Love the long boat
-Possibly the best of the line
-Snake is ok. Better than some of the others
-Tons of shields
-Several vikings

v. Fafner
-Kind of an odd set up for the fortress, is it supposed to be a harbor?
-Lots of shields again
-Several vikings (including a maiden, perhaps? Or is it just Thor of the Chapped Lips?)
-Some euro-armor (on the guy in the left tower)
-Light grey spears
-What the heck is with that monster? Is Fafner Norse for a bunch of left over crap thrown together? (Looks like no dragon I've ever seen)
-Blechy bionicle accents

v. the Nidhogg
-Looks ok
-Can't see the catapult very well
-Don't like the dragon much at all
-He must be very good with that catapult if he's going to bring down a dragon with it

In general:
-Whoo-hoo!
-Love the beards
-Weapons, could be good. Might be too big. Will have to wait and see
-This is a biggie here: the figures look to be generic. None of this same 5 characters in every set nonsense.
-Don't like how the monsters are done, but what can you do?

All in all: my wallet is going to be hurting

 Thanks you so much, LEGO! I am awestruck that something like this could actually be happening!

I'm really not sure what I like best, but I am certain that two of the best parts are the new round shields and the silver euro armor.

This is the most excited I've been about lego since I first saw Star Wars lego.

I will be definately getting the long boat - AWESOME set! I love the snake monster. Looks like quite a few figs too.

I'm not hating the monsters as much as everyone else seems to, I will hold off final judgement until I see better pics.

I'm just SO glad this didn't turn out to be Jack Stone crap!

Thank you lego! :)

  My feelings about these Viking sets are summed up by all the good things that have been pointed out by you all.

I will get some of the KK2 stuff when it hits the shelves.

I called my kids to come have a look at the photos and my 8 year old son seen the fortress an exclaimed (and I quote), "Knights Kingdom is sooo yesterday!"

Aha! So you are fallible!! Now I don't feel so bad

If it really is a female, I think TLC will find that these sets have a 'shelf life' of, oh.... 25 seconds or so before they are swept into many AFOLs' collections.

Hello!

kajo163 wrote:This is going to be a great LEGO year, and I think we've earned it.
I wished I was able to earn as much money as I need for new LEGO this year...

Then the question arrises, is this castle?
Of course it is. It's more Castle than this crappish KK2-Powerranger stuff. At least there WERE Vikings back then in the Castle times. I don't see there have ever been Powerrangers in history. The Norsemen were part of the mediaeval European history, and a big part they were! Western Europe wouldn't be what it is today without them ransacking half the continent.

Does someone know of a releas date yet?
According to Jan Beyer again it will be released about this August.

Isn't that the truth. I mean, I would much rather have a bearded lady from Norway in my lego collection, as opposed to a bunch of effeminate Knights!

After reviewing both the new Viking line, and KK2 year 2, all I can say is "Hurray for hairy women! Down with girly jellybean Knights!!"

Thank god, I was really worried that lego was done for with all this Knight's Kingdom bs. I think they may be shifting a little bit back towards the right track now. *eagerly awaits better quality scans*
