I think that the yellow border looked like some kind of shield for the elite Black Falcons, or perhaps for Falcon nobility, while blue was for the common soldiers. But I like them both.

That is how I use them, though I give the yellow ones to the common soldiers and the blue ones for the "nobility"

Anyway blue is probably my choice

Actually I use them like that also lol. Blue goes good with the typical soldier, while the yellow can be used on officers and knights. I like them both the same...

I use them as different, but equal, groups within the army. My Black Falcon army is large enough that I split it into a blue and yellow faction each with its own leader. :D

This month yellow is guarding the castle and blue in on patrol.....
Let them come...

I voted for blue because the other shield looks too colorful.

I can only think of one descent figure that I have who holds that shield.

Uhh...that's a Black Knight/Dragon Master shield. This discussion is about Black Falcon shields with the blue and yellow borders.

PS -- Cool figure :)

I think Sir Marcellus has it right, and this is how I've always used them as well. It only makes sense that there would be differing ranks, and color is the way even most modern militaries use to denote rank. Think white berret on the Battalion Commander in the marines, verses black for the grunts. This of coarse if only for public displays. During battle you want to hide rank, to keep your enemies from killing all of your officers. :)

So I vote YELLOW!
Why do you need all those minifigs? You'll poke your eye out!

Both are awesome, but blue is slightly more awesome. Smile
I think that this is a good point... so I like blue better... but like others have said, yellow is cool and it is perfect to use for a certain group of soldiers... soo...

Blue for the footmen/archers, yellow for the knights. ;-)
Knight Templar
n. pl. Knights Templars or Knights Templar
1.A member of an order of knights founded about 1118 to protect pilgrims in the Holy Land during the Second Crusade.
