Has anyone noticed that Brickshelf has put those stupid adds in the middle of the gallery, not at the begining of the gallery. My guess is this is to make more people view them, and maybe it will cause a few more accidental clicks.
But thats the price you gotta pay for using this free service.

Ya I just noticed this too.
Seems like Kevin Loch is getting more and more desperate to bring in the cash.
It would be solved so simply if he just put a $5 yearly fee for all people uploading new pics after X date...

Re: Brickshelf Ads :(
And that's why I'm not complaining...Dragon Master wrote:But thats the price you gotta pay for using this free service.
I'm fine with text Google adds, it's the images adds that annoy me. However, I don't have much of a right to complain, I take full advanage of Brickshelf.
I don't think fees is the solution. Some people simply don't have the cash, and so Brickshelf might loose some good builders if it became a charged membership. Just think how many people CC would loose if you had to pay to join!
I used to not have a lot of cash on hand, and I was loath to spend it on anything other that LEGO sets, but now that I have a steady job, I am going to (but haven't yet) donate some money to Brickshelf.
All in all, I don't think we have the right to complain. Without Brickshelf, I highly doubt the online LEGO community would exist even remotely like it is now.
Thanks Brickshelf!

I hadn't noticed that yet. Sounds like its going to be a pain.
You know what else might work? Maybe create different membership levels (like general and premium). Charge those people $5 who don't want the ads in their folders.

Really. That's a good idea. The name of the site is brickshelf, and I don't think there is a single brick in the bionicle stuff. If brickshelf needs more space, it should get rid of some of the bioncle stuff

I'd love to see Brickshelf stay free for a basic service, but offer an enhanced service for a small fee. Perhaps the basic service could be limited to a certain number of files, or the enhanced service could bypass the moderation (subject to revocation if problems arise) (and, let's face it, enough "responsble" AFOLs look at BS every minute that if there was some "danger" button to click we'd catch uploaded porn within seconds.

Lord of the Lego already explained that you can do this. You can purchase an add-free space for $20. Most builders haven't, but check out Jojo's page. See; no ads! For details, click on the green 1x1 in the top corner.David85 wrote:I never noticed the ads, but I don't use Brickshelf, because it never works right.
They should do it like how ING does, pay a fee per year and then get special offers or something and no ads.
That way they can use the site for free (if it works) or just pay and get a few more things and no ads.
Later.
