May your Emblem shine, and you wear it with Pride

Now we know due to different reasons over the time the shiny emblem of our beloved Black Falcon wears thin and lose its shine, we know also some of the members here would like to have more Black falcons. Well you can ofcourse print out stickers from the templates found on the wonderful archieve here but the magical element is missing -- the shiny silvery nature of the emblem.

Well i believe the solution i found (which turns up to be very simple and my guess is some one here would have already utilise this technique) is simple enough and affordable to all. Simple get some silver paper, preferably not too thick, print the emblem on it, add transparent tape on top for the shinyness and double sided tape below to stick. Cut out the resulted product and stick to any desired torso and vola -- Great looking Black falcon, available to all

Below list the necessary components, happy creating :)

I dunno, I think that your demonstrative diagrams are better than your actual work!

The only problem with this idea is the fact that most silver paper like that (that I've seen) comes in stacks of 10-15 sheets. I don't need that many Black Falcons! I also tried painting a piece of paper silver before printing on it, but somehow the ink from the printer ended up under the silver paint!

Anyway, what kind of silver paper did you use? I know about foil paper intended for origami, but the only other silver paper I know of is adress label stock.
As always, nice execution and incredible diagrams.

Well, actually any silver paper will do long as the surface is printable.

Take note also with gold paper u can do the crusaders' emblem :) however the template will need to be modify such that the gold color is blank instead...is brickshelf down at this very moment i post?

Thanks for sharing this excellent technique with us. I know you are in another part of the world, but a brand name for printable silver paper would be great to know. I really like the step by step images and think the final product looks great as well.

To wlister:

Any generic silver paper with printable surface will do, in fact the i dont recall the brand (if there is any) of the paper i used also. Important thing is simply

1) Printable surface (you could try a piece before deciding to get more)

2) Not too thick, u wont want ur emblem to hinder the ability of ur knight to wear an armor

3) Having the right shine, well this depends on personal taste, my guess is u can actually take an actual falcon to compare with the papers, but i doubt u can get the excat shininess siince the very nature of paper and special printing of actual falcon is very different

Also consider getting better quality tranparent tape

I love your idea, the way you spiced up the original torso, and I think it's great that you provide step-by-step instructions (not that this particular method is particularly difficult, but it's still cool).
However, I've used normal sticker paper to make torso stickers before, and I've always been annoyed at how thick it is. I wonder if two strips of tape and silver paper will be even worse. Is your method much thicker than a regular torso sticker?

Off topic: Today is my one-year anniversary at CC, and coincidentily, this is my 900th post. Hurray for me!

Just tried out the same method on Crusader....crusader lover anyone?

Hmm a new Landlord huh?
Anyway yes it can get pretty thick should this matter is a primary concern of urs; however i would consider it a small set back to get the shine back.

There is hope for this matter should u be REALLY serious about it. I have seen METALIC SURFACE LOOKING STICKERS for sale in my part of the world and they are pretty thin, should u be able to print the emblems on top u might able to get a near perfect emblem replication with bearly noticable thickness -- that is if u have the stable hands and eyes of falcon to cut them out into perfect shape in the first place

Now that is fast to spot great opportunity... however the quick answer is cant do  :?

For years i was puzzled at the lack of emblems of all Bk soldiers and knights as they were my second largest faction. It wasn't until some weeks ago when i tried to print out customised torso do i found out the reason -- there was no BK emblem simply it is way too complicated when shrank to that size, the resulted print will simply became a mess with all details gone. I am trying to do a customied one however, if i am ever satisfied with the look i will post them here

Black knight lovers, anyone?

Putting an emblem over scale has never made any sense to me. How does it stay there? Magic? Bobby pins? Double-sided medieval tape? Shrink wrapped? Just leave the glorious scale pattern alone and give 'em a shield. :D

Well, you could always put the emblem on a non-scale mail torso. While I have never been a fan of customs, I also would have liked to see a Black Knight wearing a tunic, or something similar to the clasic knights.

Later.

Indeed. I like the Black Knights almost as much as the Black Falcons. And you're right about their symbol - I just tried it and it really doesn't go very well on top of their scale maille.

Just to clear things up abit: u cant get the dragon into the standard-size-for-tonic emblem either, which is the one i am working on; not to mention on top of the scale mail
