Very cool vignette. Good idea. Like everyone else, I like the scared face. A shark would make it better too, you could make the fin with a couple of slopes in grey or black.

Hey,
Very cool. I played around with a similar idea a while ago, but could never get it to look like the side of a ship (just seemed like a big brown wall). With the inverse slopes and especially the cannon, I think you achieve the illusion quite well.
Those are awfully cheerful pirates waving goodbye to their victim.
