Weekly Set Review: Medieval Knights

Post by architect »

Join the weekly Classic Castle set review discussion. Please post your opinions on the set play ability, piece selection, design, etc. Which sets stand up to our catapult of critique and which ones crumble in shame!

This week’s set is 6105 Medieval Knights.

Medieval Knight's, released in 1993, was the minifigure pack for the Dragon Masters. It includes two knights, one soldier, a wolfpack soldier, a horse, and accessories.

It would have been nice to have a bit more variety, but at least it's a minifig pack. I miss these things.

I think I tried to order this from S@H quite some time ago, but they sent me a refund check and told me the set was sold out.

As for minifig packs, I like the fact that this one came with a horse, but it just isn't that good. 3 Dragon Masters and a Wolfpack bandit. Its great if you only want Dragon Masters, but the older minifig packs had a lot more variety.

That said, I don't think this was that good of an assortment. 4 of 10.

Favourite Minifig set EVER!!!

Seriously, I have some major issues with this set... namely that I never managed to get it (no longer an issue in this buy-whatever-you-want age, but a big concern in the make-armies-only-from-what-store-bought-sets-a five year old-can-find days...). That's still the case, sadly.

Apart from the fact that I don't own it, I really can't fault what this set has. I like the DMs, and there are three here, all armed (and a horse to boot). It comes with a Wolfpack. If this set were expanded to include more figs and be re-released, I'd be in my bliss...

Parts: 7/10
Playability: 7.5/10
Figs/Accessories: 9.5/10
Design (then): 8/10
Design (now): 9/10
Nostalgia: 9.5/10

Overall Score: 8.42/10

Got One, and wish I'd got more, yes it has dragonmaster figures, but this gave me my second (and last ! ! !) wolfman figure (also my ONLY wolfman shield) If only I had got more when I had the chance ! ! !

I just wish LEGO would release a bulk set of Castle minifigs (even if it is only through S@H) of several of each of the old castle factions.

Anyway, if it was available today I would definitely buy several (10 or more), after all, if you don't want the dragonmaster figs you can either sell them or sticker them to a faction you DO want.

Hello!

Well, Dragon Masters... The Wolfman is good.

Like almost every minifig set it's not too hard to acquire. "Would love to have it" means: Go to BrickLink or eBay and check them out for the figs, and you have it.

6103, available from 1988-1990, gave you six minifigs and great variety for the same price.

By comparison, this is an utter disappointment. Still decent if you want lots of Dragon Masters, but this was probably the worst castle minifig pack ever made at the time of it's release.

No point in rating this since it's going to depend on which factions a person likes. Tis a shame it's the only minifig pack with a wolfpack figure.

Ahh, the DM fig, a masterpiece of Lego design.

The wolfman I can do without, do'nt like them very much. And you get two of those wonderful helmets and plumes, it does'nt get very much better than this!

A Dragonmaster Soldier, Knight and Knight Captain... and a Wolfpack member. Nice! I actually like the Dragonmasters when massed, especially the decorated Knights and Captain Knights. :)

Wolfpack... My favorite faction :D

If your a DM fan this set would have been golden... nowdays, it's a bit obsolete... as jojo said... bricklink, ebay, etc. has made the old minifig sets a non-item. :)

Still... for it's time, it was nice... as would a set of 4 shadowknights be with a... i dunno... king mathis?

I never particularly like the DMs but a wolfpack is always good... The thing that most annoyed me about this set (as a 'Black Knights' supporter) is the way most british magazines contained the same misprint 'Castle Reinforcements with Wolf Person, Black Knight and two Dragon Knights.' Spot the Black Knight...

God Bless,

Nathan
