Has anyone else made their own Castle Faction?

I have made one based on my Family's Coat of arms.

That's a nice crest. :) It's a bit complicated.
Do you have pictures of peoples from your factions ?

My own faction

Post by Magnus »

Well, I count this faction as my own creation, although I haven't made an original coat of arms. This is how you make one:

Take a Forestman's torso with a brown/red hood print thing (either new or old version). Replace the red arms with brown.

Give it light grey legs with a black waist bit, and add a dark grey bullet or flared helmet

Spearmen, swordsmen and knights carry the forestmens' Elk Shield.

I haven't made a name for this faction, I just think they look pretty cool.

Sorry I don't have any pictures, I need to learn how to use a digital camera.

I too have switched that torso's arms with brown, sure improves the look of it. As for a newly printed design for a faction, sadly I have not had the time or the quality printer required to create a faction. I do have several
factions created using existing torsos etc... You can check out some of my factions by looking in the character folders of my gallery. I will try to post a pic of the forestman torso with brown arms. in the next few days.

Will
After a long absence, I have returned. I can't wait to start building again.

The shield is nice, but the minifig is not enough clear to tell you if I like it. But that's a very nice Crest.

I you had a picture of the minifig...

Besides expanding on a lot of 'hero' characters, and stockpiling peasents and clergy yes, I have made my own factions. Vampire Hunters, Dragon Slayers and Blue Eagles. The Hunters are mainly offshoots of Forestmen crossed with Jedi garb, one is a redheaded elf. The Slayers are still in the works, and the Eagles are based off of some Mega Blox shield I found in my chest of Legos, which is large, has a red back and a big blue eagle on the front. Since I also found a chest-plate/cape combination piece that went with it, which fits on Lego minifigs, I quickly made the Blue Eagle's duke, and so forth. They all act to offset the balance of the dismal and therefore secretive and smalltime forces of Batlord's minions, dragons, and the Blue Eagles are there to balance out with the Black Falcons. I just wish I had some classic castle knights so the Royal Knights could have households. Those almost count as factions.

A sample of mine can be found at:

The one on the right is obviously a FK soldier, but the others are MOCs based on the sticker sheets from the old MB castle set. I bought three complete sets of sheets on eBay several years ago and have finally gotten around to cutting up the banner stickers into torso shapes. The red sticker are the axemen (with 'edited' Batlord helmets) and the blue/tan stickers are for the swordsmen (with MOC shields).

There are other stickers on the sheets that will likely get employed for other regiments, but they don't have the tower motif.

No specific name for these soldiers. They are meant to be a bit generic. The royal family of my city (under construction) and castle is the House of Loewenstein, so I use the Crusader lion shields for them, otherwise I stick to generic armour for mounted knights. It's cheaper that way. :)

Here is one I made awhile back. The Tower emblem seems to be a popular choice!

armothe-

I really like how the tunic extends over the legs. Did you use paper or cloth to do that?

Blasterman,

Does that fig have a sheath for his sword? If so, how did you do it?

Hello!

I did not really create a whole faction (meaning: several soldiers with the same coat of arms), but I did some custom stuff some years ago (I did this about 1992):

Image & Image Image

I obviously used a pretty huge amount of non-LEGO parts, not to mention the swords that I cut to a narrower shape...

Now, that's a sin of my youth, and I wouldn't do something like that again.
