Trebuchet Instructions

Post by jb »

Hi everyone,

For those of you asking for instructions for the Crusader Trebuchet v2 they can be found here (when moderated): http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=645607

If you can't wait the deep links are:
http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/jbrin ... r/ct00.jpg thru ct17.jpg Just change the numbers to view.

WARNING! If you try to make it into a working model you need to be careful when launching. The trebuchet whips bricks around pretty quickly and could probably hurt your eyes. So be careful!!!

Enjoy!

Hi James,

Your instructions are excellent. They are very easy to follow. I think that you should put up a link at Building Instructions Portal  We need more castle instructions there.

It controls when the projectile is released.

I think the hand is special b/c I've never seen anybody use that part for the pin before.

This sight is awesome! I could just search through these forums all day :D . I have downloaded all these instruction pages. I will try to build it this weekend! I think I have all the pieces except the train weight. I will have to purchase one because I must make this work!

Thanks for the great instructions!

Hi,
You could probably make it work without the train weight. I've found that making a counterweight from plates, which are denser and therefore heavier than bricks, can work well. Just try a bigger 'weight' than I have in the instructions. You could also make the counterweight hollow, maybe with panels, and fill it with lead pellets or bbs or something. Have fun!

Thanks JB,

Bricklink tells me that the train weight weighs 55.65 grams. Plates of the same size would weigh about 10.44 grams. I would make a bigger weight out of plates, but I think it would start to look less realistic. I like the current proportions.

I may actually have some train weights. I did some checking and I see they used them in 4020 Fire Fighting Boat. I have this boat, so I must have the weights somewhere!

Thanks

Ok, good. I got mine out of a police boat :) Lego dacta sells those weights as well, but they are a bit pricey.
