I haven't a clue what a grange is, but that is one great* MOC.

I just love the feel of the whole place. I feels so, so, soo farmish. The whole place was built beautifully, the detail everywhere is astounding! I guess I will let others comment on it more fully. All I can say is, it's great*.

NOTE: I used great because I could find no fitting words to descibed such a master piece.

Jojo: this a wonderful MOC. I love the peacefulness of it, and the details are great: the simple but effective landscaping, the well, the carts, the tree, and the constuction of the houses.

Pity the pictures seem a bit over-exposed.

All in all, an excellent MOC!

This has great detail. My favorite part is how he trades in his farm clothes and puts on his Black Falcon gear.

This is really a work of art, nothing less. Every detail is covered in such a creative way. Also, you seem to have all the pieces a builder could ever want - and you definately used them well!

Beautiful piece of work. I really love the story the pictures tell. The wood chopping block, the scythe, the Chickens, the rutted path for carts, the armor hanging on the wall. All of these ideas are really wonderful and show just how real these MOC's can be.

Well done Jojo! Obviously, you put considerable thought into the MOC. I especially like the different 'scenes'. Adds a dimension not found in most picture sets.

"Grange" is a perfect title, by the way. The gentleman looks like he is 'puttering' around his place. He doesn't seem to be laboring, but he is busy with his small farm.

Very well done MOC. I love the rural setting. I also see that you decided to go with the bigger wheels on the back of the wagon. Looks the best, in my opinion. The SNOT work on the barn is very good. Really nice job overall, it has that Jojo feel.

Hey Jojo,

A ton of great details in this, like the scythe, the woodpecker, and the axe left stuck in the chopping block. Many of the pictures are a little washed out due to the lighting, though.

I should have given a little background. So be it now:
Actually this farm is the further development of what used to be my "standard house" in childhood days. In 1988 when the Black Monarch's Castle was released some of my grey castle sets became obsolete (6073 mainly) and I started to use the pieces for other things on a regular basis. One of these thngs was my so called standard house which can be seen here: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=76886 It's been the house of "my man", the fig I identified myself with when playing. Naturally my man got all the cool stuff like my first brown barrel, my first brown horse, the first treasure chest....

Now, I'm grown up and blessed with a bigger collection of pieces now ("Also, you seem to have all the pieces a builder could ever want" :-) ), so I developed this house of olde a little.

I'm not too sure, though, if the title "grange" was chosen wisely. I simply took what the dictionary told me for a translation of "Gehöft" how I call it in German. Actually it's not the homestead of a nobleman but of a simple peasant. Those men usually were bondsmen, and when their lord called his serfs to arms they were forced to pick them up and fight for ... well, not for their own interests but for some irrational reasons the lords had to wage wars. Just like in modern times actually.

And yes, the lighting is my biggest problem when taking photos.

I really like your latest creation and all of the little details. The lattice 2x2 window, weapons rack, framed front door, and roof beams are particularly nice. It definitely captures this lifestyle well.

One of the things that I find the coolest about this is that we don't see many non-townhouse, non-military structures. This one isn't war-like, it's not a shop, it's not in a crowded town; it's just relaxing and simple. Great work, and beatifully done. One thing that I must say I don't care for though is the exposed studs on the roof of the shed. I think it would look better covered with brown tiles.
