I'm confused...

Post by Toombinator »

My birthday is coming up, and though there are few castle legos on the market today, I'm planning to get a few. Should I get King Leo's Castle, or the LEGO Legend Castle Collection (Blacksmith Shop, Guarded Inn, Black Falcon's Fortress) I'm probobly gonna get the other sets for Christmas, and I think they're gonna stop making King Leo's Castle soon. Please help.

Sounds like you already answered your own question. How about King Leo's Castle for your birthday, and the collection for Christmas. Whatever it takes to get at least one of each set available. 8)

Hi Toombinator!

Welcome to Classic-Castle.com

If you can only get King Leo's Castle or the Castle Collection, get the Castle collection. Those sets have a better design, more minifigures, and more pieces. Of course if you can get both - why not. (Well then I would get two Castle collections :D )

I have to agree with Ben E.
if you really enjoy playing with one-piece wonders
(referring to 70% of the pieces in the Leo's Castle)
then ask for Leo's Castle (of course, if you like a decent
story line then you might also want it as well).

If you want to start acquiring elements to build up a really
nice collection, and start working on some kick-butt
MOC's, then get the Collection...or two (one for your
birthday and one for christmas).

If I were you, I'd go for the CC lineup. The newer sets are, - well, interesting if you see my point. However those aren't your only options. Look on Ebay, or even better, BrickLink. There, you'll often find some really nice, old castle sets for some really good deals. Hope you have a nice Birthday and some good Lego sets.

Thanks for posting all. I think I will go with the Castle Collection for my birthday, and if I still want it, King Leo's for Christmas. It's just, that sliding castle gate pieces were beckoning me to get them... Man, I wish I had some of the old sets... Is King's castle the best out of these? That's what I've heard from around here.

Well you will get two sets designed in 1986. Guarded Inn and Black Falcon's Fortress are some of the best castle sets ever made.

We all have different preferences. King's Castle is my favorite because it looks realistic and it was my first castle (not including portions of a used Yellow Castle). Other people like different castles and Forestmen's sets more than King's Castle.

You can make your own portcullis with black plates like the King's Castle. Your Collection should have enough peices to make one:

eBay sounds good

There's this one auction on right now, and I'm gonna bid for it. Yeah, the collection did look better for MOCs, and I am working on a prototype castle... I just did some custom wooden-looking doors, but thanks for the portcullis tip... I was referring to the pieces in with the grates slide, but I guess I wasn't clear.

I understood what pieces you wanted. I just wanted to offer an alternative made of LEGO pieces, not just one large piece.

Well, why spend $90 for one piece you really like? I could not live without BrickLink as dilemmas like these happen to me all the time. As architect said though, you can make your own (which IMHO looks better then one piece parts.)

As for what sets you want, it really depends on your tastes. I, for example, put the Black Falcons vs. Crossed axes while others might prefer the Black Knights over another faction.

Whatever way you go, castle is one of the best themes lego has ever made and you can't (almost) go wrong.
