I need some good inspiration

Post by Zacku »

In my ten years as a castle fanatic, I've never built a realistic castle. I need to build a big castle for either the Black Knights or Royal Knights. Which real castles would fit them?

Well.. I´d recommend welsh castles. I think they should fit perfectly well for both factions. And besides I really like them :D

I personally like German castles (which is what I personally associate with the Black Falcons).

If you need some inspiration for your castle building ideas, just have a look on brickshelf. Some great work there. - But I am sure you already know that.

There are some great castle here! Thanks for bringing this up Zacku.

I might also suggest the aerial photographs of Simon Ledingham via the Cumbria County (England) visitor's site. His images are presented on many castle sites, and they provide a great layout of many of the castles! Just click on any of the links under "Castles" section.

I really like this castle. It's so annoying that most of the good ones are in ruins.

Hmm, this is a rather old topic.... Oh well.

I definitely think that Welsh castles are great inspiration, like Maedhros (thanks for that link, BTW. I'm bookmarking it). They're quite beautiful.

Oh, and kelderic, I think it's kind of neat that some of the best castles are ruined, it lets us make up the rest.

I personally think that any castle would be good, but don't use irish for walled castles, they mainly built keeps.
