Question about the CCC.....

Post by adm_matthew »

Why isn't the CCC just to LEGO Standard's ? The MOC's would be like *new* sets. And it would fit with my stuff :p

I'm not sure I quite understand the question.

The CCC standard was designed to be a happy medium
rigid enough to please those who like a little structure
in the layout, and free enough to allow some creativity
and innovation in the layout. Also, bear in mind that the
standard is primarily for group displays.

Lego Castle standard, is 2 bricks wide on the wall, and
3 bricks wide on the top (to allow the guard to "stand"
on it). There is also a plate near the top to allow the
added stud to be added near the top.

The CCC standard is to be double the width, or double
the lego standard...so that the walls are 4 studs thick,
and on the top, 6 studs, with the plate near the top
to allow the guards to stand there.

There is to be variation of course, especially on the corners.
But essentially that is standard.

On the buildings themselves, use regular plates, rather
than baseplates to allow better intigration into the
city, and to allow easier layout of the roads/paths to
be decided by the layout coordinator.

I hope that clarifies the standard itself.

Matt, the reason for the difference is that 4 wide walls are more realistic. If you take the reason that one stud = 1 foot, that would mean standard lego walls are 1 foot thick! That is hardly realistic at all.

At Brickfest 2003, everyone who presented a wall, had walls at LEAST four studs thick.

They were all a bit larger than 6 bricks high.

The CCC reflects a compromise between larger, realistic walls which can only be built by those with larger collections - and the LEGO standard, which is more open to people with modest collections. If you have the BFF and the Guarded Inn, you could easily make a wall section or gatehouse.

Thus everyone (larger collection people and smaller collection people) is able to work together to make a large, realistic Castle town!

hope that makes sense
