Neuschwanstein castle

Post by Nick »

This castle, Neuschwanstein, is a good inspiration for MOC creations!
It's the only one of its kind, built by a Bavarian king, who was a hopeless romantic. Built in the 18th century!

King Ludwig was completely insane, wasn't he? Didn't he get murdered?

Speaking of German castles, I like this one:

That's Braunfels castle. The Sophienburg museum in my hometown (conveniently named New Braunfels) has a really nice model of it.

I'm not an expert with the "real" castles (other than anatomy), but this one I really like.

I've always liked this one too. Not really an authentic castle (built in the wrong time period) but very cool nonetheless. It was also used in the movie Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Neuschwanstein is a nice castle but it's not "medieval."

That Lego Land version of Neuschwanstein is quite amazing but I like this other Lego Land castle better.....

Image

Im not sure what actual castle it's based on but it completely blows my mind!!!
Quite possibly the best lego castle, ever!

It should be called a LOC - LEGO(LAND)'s Own Creation. :-)

I found all of the images on brickshelf....
Here's some more pics....

-Judging by the photos, there seems to be two versions of this castle. (probably because the same castle is in two different Lego Lands)
You can see that some minor parts of the castle are different in some of the pics such as the mottling scheme.

Another Lego Land Castle....

And another....

I believe there is a couple Lego Lands through out the world, so Im not sure if any of these castles are at the California one or the others?

This one is Zollburg Pfalzgrafenstein in the middle of the Rhine river. It was built in 1327 for the single purpose of
stopping merchant vessels on their way to or from Cologne and letting them pay for the right to pass.
Here's a nice picture of the real thing.

The castles you showed us are in Legoland Germany.
There are Legolands in Billund (The Source™), California, Windsor (UK) and Günzburg (Germany).

Heh heh heh - you could be on to something!

Thanks for the extra links - this I haven't seen many "LOC"s. It's cool to see what the company comes out with. (excellent designs, and soooo many bricks!)

Hey guys.

This is my worst question ever, but how does Legoland keep their Loc's from getting dirty from the forces of mother nature. Are the built out of tougher plastic or something?

Because rain and Lego don't go well together. Or snow, or wind.

Rain isn't that bad. Sun is the enemy. They paint the models with a special lacquer that is meant to protect them from wind and sun. It doesn't help much. And every couple of years they have to replace the aged models with fresh ones.
