Thats purely fantasy. They had no idea what a cannon was, and while some did know how to make steampowered engines, they were never used, not even produced to start with. As far as I know gunpowder was invented in China but it wasn´t used as much there as it was used in Europe when they got hold of it. But I know that some sorts of rare guns and "cannons" were used by ninja in Japan. They were very primitive though, hollowed out tree trunks or bamboo.
