New MOC: Small Fortress

Post by Charlie »

I have had this together for about a week, but just got around to taking some pics of it.

(The Brickshelf Folder isn't public yet, so you'll have to wait to see all the other pics)

There is a small Gate Tower which you reach by ladder, a small structure on the left side (just a little covered walkway with storage space in the "attic"), and the Barracks for the Troops is in the back.

Let me know what you think!

PS: Sorry about the bad pics.

Very nice little outpost you have there. It looks spartan but functional.

Thanks for the comments!

Lego Knight,

I was going to make the stucture on the left a 3 of 4 story tower, but I had the rest of my 1xX bricks tied up in a smaller building, and didn't really feel like taking that apart.

That thing looks great. Is there an interior to the barracks ?

Well, there is, but nothing really worth mentioning, which is why I didn't go to the trouble of making the outer wall hinge open. There are some some simple beds made of a 2x6 plate on top of two 1x2 bricks, and then a small ledge 3 studs wide above everything else for keeping various things, clothing maybe?

I really need to cut this out, I start bulding one thing, then stop for awhile, start something else, and then find out the parts that I need to make one thing are in the other, which is one reason I didn't make the interiors more detailed.

Nice! I like white & black blend. Will you be making a larger MOC to attach it too?

I think this is a very nice MOC. It seems almost to be almost Roman type architecture. I did have one question though. If it is a gate tower, then do you walk through the courtyard to the rest of the castle? Or is the Moc a small outpost on the edge of the empire?

Whoa! Nice.

You certainly don't have to worry about it being under-manned. Nice use of those BURPS!

Thanks again guys!

Jedi,

Yeah, it's more supposed to be a small outpost, I was thinking along the lines of a place to keep tabs on the happenings of the outlying regions if you know what I mean.

Mr. D,

Probably not, I was thinking of making it compatible with a larger structure, but just decided to go with the outpost/fortress idea.

Hi Charlie,

That is a pretty nice fortress. It shows really great potential. The contrast of Black and gray is a style I enjoy building in as well. I am not a big fan of BURPs, but they seem to fit with the sparse nature of the fortress. Thanks for sharing.

I must say that is a good idea, and a very nice realization of the concept. I like the way you used 2 x pieces in the walls to give it a little texture. Also the gray 1 x on the BURPs is a nice touch.
