DnD Medieval Cart

I'm playing DnD with some friends, and instead of minatures they decided to let me make our characters out of LEGO. My character is Monk Tehn.

Our DnD Party defeated a rich bandit named Jandar Moor, and with the money we bought two horses and a cart. Jool bought a masterwork scythe, so he couldn't chip in on the horses or cart. Oh well.

I never played DnD when I was a kid - all the rules confused me and I never liked rules anyway - but as an adult it is a fun thing to do with friends that is fantasy. The up-side is that it has given me inspiration for building LEGO creations, such as this cart. Eventually I'll be building more stuff and posting it here.

A cart is an excellent way of traveling quickly, carrying poor members of the party and our loot.

D&D material and adventures are great inspiration for LEGO stuff. I've always wanted to use LEGO for D&D (although I can't build quite like you) but I can't get the others to believe it's anything more than kid's stuff.

Your display is a perfect example of what LEGO is great for with D&D! I like the wagon-top the best. The wagon itself is done really well, but that top is really sweet - I've never seen one done that way before.

I also noticed your figs are customized - how did you do that? MCN? They look really well done.

Cool stuff - love to see some adventures too!

Erikut: DnD = Dungeons and Dragons - a roleplaying game where you and your friends sit around and role dice and pretend they are fighting Mighty Foes. We use LEGO to help with keeping track of who's where during a fight.

Ottoam: Thanks for the comments about the cart. I think I stole the idea from somewhere, but I forget where. The design uses pneumatic tubing from the technic Droideka for the basic structure.

The fig customization is from two different places. Jool Sadat's chest sticker is from some stickers I bought from a LEGO Castler who has since disappeared. Bought them a long time ago - like 3 yrs ago. The tattoo on Monk Tehn's face was me using fabric paint on lego. I used a round matchstick, dipped it in silver paint and then dabbed it onto his face. As it was drying, I scrapped off the paint that was covering his eyes.

That's a really cool cart. I'll have to steal that idea if I can get some tubing from my brother, that is.

The cart is great. It is sort of western, I don't know if they used covered wagons in medieval times, but that shouldn't stop your own creativity.

It reminds me of the cart on Zelda: Majora's Mask. The lady from the ranch uses it to deliver milk. Anyone who has played the game will probably understand, I know it makes no sense.

This is a really cool idea - I never thought of this kind of method (mostly because I haven't had the guts to mess with LEGO and paint too much until recently).

My question is, who stable is the roof? It seems to me that it would wobble or sag if the slats were unbalanced.

Who stable? I don't know how to answer that .

You are mostly correct on the construction - except it is pneumatic tubing rather than 'technic tubing' - I mention the difference because some tubing is quite stiff and pneumatic tubing is all bendy and flexible.

Stability isn't a problem. The roof stays in place when I'm displaying it and I can pick it up and move it around without expecting it to fall apart. There isn't any balance issue with the "slats" - they might wobble if the cart were shaken - but they won't come apart.

It's ok. Often MOCs that look nice are horribly unstable. Most of my bots are like that - and there are some builders who's creations are even worse. I personally believe MOCs should strive to be both aesthetic and stable, but eh, sometimes you can't do both. But the cart is, in fact, very stable.

The Rogue character looks like a fascinating MOC fig. Do you have more detailed pics of how she was created? She looks about the size of what a Hobbit should be.

Great cart (the figs in this gallery are great as well. I think that cart roof in multi-colors would be good as a gypsy caravan as well. Of course, in white it also would be great in a western-themed MOC.
