Viking SAH Update - Now Available!

Post by architect »

Recently I was chatting with Jake McKee about when the Viking sets would arrive at USA Shop at Home. The estimated time of arrival is December 2005. This timetable (to quote Jake)
it's not set in stone, but we're doing our best to get product out as soon as possible
In other online sales news, Amazon is running the Toy R Us buy 2 get one free sale. This sale is also in actual stores until Oct 1st. In addition many amazon sets also have free shipping. So take advantage of this offer. Amazon.com does not have all of the Viking sets currently available and many stores will not have these sets until October.

Good things come to those who wait... teehee

I dont know when my local TRUs will have vikings, I've been waiting to buy them in person to save money on shipping.

But with free shipping... AND BTGO....
Not only did I save $30 on shipping, but I got $60 worth of sets for free!

2 fortresses, 1 ship, 1 catapult and 2 wyvern boats

(And yes, the BTGO did apply correctly, I didn't just get two $10 sets for free, I made sure of that)

If only they had the wolf. I'll have to wait for the stores to get those in.

Not that I'm complaining :D

I did not get any information on Canadian Shop at Home. It would make sense that Canada would get the sets at a similar time as the US.

This seems to be the right place to post. I'm thinking of buying the big fortress around Xmas time, yet I see that Amazon is now selling this set in the US! Along with the fort, I'm thinking of buying the Fenris Wolf. Although Amazon/TRU is selling the boat and the fort the Fenris wolf has yet to arrive. So... when do we get the Fenris wolf?

Does anyone know?

+... since I have never beheld a Viking set in person, what is your opinion?

I know a person who bought the Fenris Wolf at Toys"R"us. I went there three times myself. The first time I didn't notice the Fenris Wolf set but it did look like they just stock the shelves with all the viking sets(I bought 3 forts and 3 ships sets with the buy two get third one free deal). The second and third visit I saw only empty spots where the Fenris Wolf set would probably be located. Those cheap  ba.., I mean smart Lego collecters going for the cheapest set. :)

All five Viking sets can now be purchased at the USA LEGO Shop at Home. Jake's estimation of the sets arriving in December was accurate. Our long North American wait is finally over! Of course most of us have already purchased the sets from Amazon and TRU. A small note to LEGO: we would like to get new lines like Vikings at the same time as Europe

LEGO has extended its free shipping until December 4th in both the US and Canada. For those of us in Canada who can't get these sets at a discount, shop@home may be the way to go. For you guys in the US, this probably doesn't matter as prices are far better at Amazon right now.

Later.

Yes, I have to agree. Prices are better on amazon. For $90 you can get both the ship and the fortres

Today in the mail I received a "Holiday Express" LEGO catalog featuring the Vikings. The long boat is listed with a price of $39.99 in case anyone wants to know.

I just went to SAH earlier and was getting ready to order The Vikings Long Boat for $39.99, when I noticed its availablity is March 31 2006. Hmm, can you say ouch ?!

Well I guess I will have to find this set somewhere else, of course I looked at bricklink, and saw the cheapest one at $54 (before shipping). This is begining to look pretty hopeless or atleast really expensive. :x

ebay doesn't look any cheaper, infact one person was selling this set at $120 (yikes !!).

If anyone has any idea where I might find this set at a reasonable price, and not have to wait until next spring to get my paid for set.... Please post here and Let me know..

Edit

Amazon.com also appears to be sold out, I guess I picked the wrong time to take interest in purchasing more LEGO...

...sighed...

Well, you could always support our fellow Bricklink sellers. For instance, Jcool has some good prices. He posted this thread a while back yet I believe he's probably out of what you're looking for. I'm just going to wait and take some chances with the After-Christmas sales. I'm sure he'll have more sets once the holiday rush is over. :)

Take care :D
