Question and Answer at BrickFest PDX

Post by Glencaer »

Larry Pieniazek is going to BrickFest and will be online during the Question and Answer portion (with Jake McKee).

He will come into the Classic-Castle Chatroom at that time, to take questions from anyone interested in asking one, and he will also be trying to give real-time answers (as fast as his fingers can type).

Thanks for cross posting this, Lenny!

First, it is always possible that technical difficulties will prevent me from doing this, and there are lots of links to break that might cause trouble... but, that said...

I'll do my darndest to ask as many remote questions as I can. I can't promise to get every one. I reserve the right to ignore questions that have already been answered, etc. (watch the periodic posts on LUGNET to see how the discussion is flowing) If there are lots, I may not ask second questions from the same person in order to be able to ask first questions from others. Questions that are profane, insulting or just plan inane may not get asked either. Also if I really don't like you, I may ignore you, them's the breaks. (0)

I'm just a gong farmer here, (1) so I may not know your CC handle. Therefore, please include your real name in your question so that I can repeat it when I ask the question.

I'll probably try to post this into the chat every so often too.

Void where prohibited by law, your mileage may vary, some settling of contents may have occured during shipping, do not taunt Happy Fun Ball, etc etc.

Oh, in other news, my super secret 3CS building (to be revealed at BrickFestPDX 2004) is coming along nicely. I am itching to drop hints about it but won't. Hopefully Lenny saved room for it!

0 - I feel you had your chance to suck up to me already... well, actually there's still time!

1 - apparently my grandiose stature elsewhere doesn't automatically transfer over, gotta talk to The Management about that, harrumph!... guess I'll be ignoring all THEIR questions! (2)

2 - I'm KIDDING!

Hi Manfred,

This was supposed to happen yesterday (5:15-6:45 Pacific Time in the US) but Larry was unable to show up. So we missed our chance to ask Jake questions. Larry did say that it might not be possible. I am looking forward to reading the transcript :D

Ben, that's incorrect. The Q&A will be done by Jake, and it is on for TODAY (SUNDAY), not yesterday/

It will be at 5:15 PM Pacific today, sunday 15 Feb.

I will be in Chat here at that time if I can. Please spread the word.

Hi Larry,

I apologize for giving incorrect info. I misinterpreted the Brickfest Event schedule.

No prob, Ben.

I want to apologise too. The Q&A period was VERY short, and trying to do multiple different sources for online questions did not work very well. I only got to ask one question from here, one from BL and none from AIM. There were only maybe 6-8 questions asked total, and it was key that a number of them came from the people who had taken the time and money to actually go to the fest.

I feel really bad that people hung around for 45 min or more and did not ever get to ask any questions...

Having the Q&A on Sunday may not be the best approach going forward.

I DO want to say that the CC folks were the most well behaved chatters of the bunch... didn't overwhelm me with chit chat, were very well behaved and polite and organised to ask their questions in a very orderly fashion. Unlike over on BL where we had one real miscreant who wanted to talk about whatever he watned to talk about and got obnoxious when asked to take it somewhere else...

So thanks for that very much and maybe next time we can do better at getting more questions answered.

Thank you for going through all of this work for us. It was really cool to have some live communication at Brickfest, even if it was brief. We appreciate you taking out time from your own brickfest experience to share it with us.
