Just a question though. How does one begin such a daunting task of constructing a mammoth like that?

Thanks!
Yes, the head is only one stud thick, which make's its head look very narrow from the front. I'll probally save this design for another dragon; after I built the body I found out the head is too small!

Hehe.. Thanks much DM.
You start building something at this size one brick at a time. Really, just pick a starting point and go. For me, it was the heads, where most of the personaility is. I started with the outline of the jaws where the teeth would sit, and built up from there. It really wasn't too hard.
After about a year of mental planning and part saving, it took me two weeks of building to get the black dragon finished. After I had the 'template' dragon finished, the other three took one week each of building.
Formeathan 2.0, though, took another year of mental planning and part saving, and 2 months to finish.
Both the old black and red dragons, and the new red dragon all use the same thing. two technic pins and 4 technic bricks. That's it. Formeathan is a bit more involved because of the gearing and the lifting arms involved, but basically its the same design as the other two.Barbapple wrote:All these Dragons are lookin' great! Anthony, how do you attach the wings to your dragons?
The first two used a technic pin car axle (instead of technic bricks and seperate technic pins, but the same thing really) inside the wing base:
Then two technic bricks are place on either side and those are trapped inside the body of the dragon so they don't pop off.
That's it.
Other additions are the 1x4 plate hinges that allow the wing to move back and forth, which are sandwiched to the axle.
