CCC3 Entrie: Room
Well, this is my first entrie for the CCC3, and you can read/comment about it here
First Picture
Second picture
Now, the pictures do not do this MOC justice, so hopefully my camera will start working to give you all better pictures. And I'm not sure if this is the final version... Thank God the "Submit a entry" thingy isn't working.

The candles look extremely good. Where did you get white technic pins? I thought they only came in grey and blue.
Is that supposed to be a parrot on the other side of the wardrobe? It looks interesting. I kind of like the way you built the room on top of rafters. Although I highly doubt that wood rafters would have been used to support stonework, I don't really know that much about architecture.
Overall, this is pretty sparse and plain but interesting. Those candles are going to be so totally stole--borrowed.

'Snot much of a floor, is it?

Love the room. Candles = Pure Genius, why has no one used that before? I like the desk, though the chair isn't that great. Nice and simple, yet elaborate.

I LOVE IT! Good luck in winning! Like the others, I'm astounded at your candle making skills... where did you get white technic pins? :
Respectfully submitted,

I'm not sure if I'm the only one to come up with that candle design, if I came up with it, then thats just awesome!
I got all my white Technic pins from 4402 - Sea Riders
You can also get 6 of them from the american flag that was sold by LEGO, I believe they still have some left.
Thanks for the comments everybody.

Looks great! The candles rock, and the brick built bird is nice.

Those candles are great! So good in fact, I'll have to let you away with this quote "I came up with the brilliant idea of using a yellow control stick with a white Technic pin for a candle..." : - )

Yeah nice room. I agree; the candels are great, an the bird also. But I find the wardrobe less interresting.

You're not the first one to use the white technic pin for a candle, but you may be the first to use the yellow lever for the flame. I first saw the the technic pin used as a candle at Brickfest 2004 (IIRC the builder was Derek Schin). He used a different piece for the flame though. In the old days, 1x1 round plates came in pairs attached to a sprue. Once you removed them from the sprue you threw the plastic sprue away. Derek used one of these seemingly worthless plastic sprues (in yellow) as his candle flame - wedging it into the technic pin. I liked the idea so much that when I made a vignette of a church alter I used white technic pins for candles also. My candles were inverted compared to yours and for flames I just attached 1x1 round plates in trans orange to the top. Out of these three versions though, I think your yellow lever looks the best.lone ranger wrote:I'm not sure if I'm the only one to come up with that candle design, if I came up with it, then thats just awesome!

As for the rest of your MOC: The wardrobe doesn't do much for me. It's rather nondescript and the red and white 1x1 rounds look odd. But, the rest of the room is well done. Good job on hinging one wall so it swings out to open it up for photography purposes.
Good luck in the contest,
Ken

Of course the candles and the wardrobe are fantastic, and I like the desk a lot too... not much to say in terms of detail, but I did want to comment on the quality - for one room, this is really well done - there is a lot of creativity there!
