That's great!
I like how you did the chainmail on his legs.
The shield, torso and crown all look real good.
And that custom sword is awesome!

Definitely not bad. Though that appears to be TwoTonic's mail design, so you might want to give due credit.
One question -- well.. two questions.
1.) What exactly is the mail around his lower legs supposed to be? It sort of looks like he's wearing mail socks.
2.) Why does Richard have a claymore?

I think its meant to look that his tabard goes down to his legs, and he got white boots.Damien wrote:1.) What exactly is the mail around his lower legs supposed to be? It sort of looks like he's wearing mail socks.

Good one! Now that you point that out, the custom really comes together better. The Hordesman wrote:I think its meant to look that his tabard goes down to his legs, and he got white boots.Damien wrote:1.) Not a bad job, though I'd have suggested a bit of sanding around the bottom rim of the crown (I've chopped off the silly flare on the official crown before too).

Yes as Hordesman said that was the idea altough the mail came out a bit too big. Yes sorry that is TwoTonics chainmail in there. Have you seen teh movie "Kind Richard and the Crusades" It is the story of "The Talisman" a book by Sir Walter Scott i believe. Any ways i made him in the likeness of that movie in which he has a sword like that. but dont forget he also has his double chained mace which i believe was his historical weapon of choice

Do you by chance have a reference image from that? It might help for us less familiar with the movie.

Nice work! I like those 'foot' decals, but you could also put some on his knees...

So what do you guys think of the Double mace? it wasnt a complete copy of Nic's Samuri i had been planning to do a Richard with a mace for a while but his just showed me a good way to do it

Ahh.. I see the 'long tunic, mail chausses' look now. Nifteroni.
It is a nice flail though, good job. Though a double-ball flail would have a longer haft and shorter chains (and would be a footman's weapon) -- but that's just me being nitpicky.
I plan to do a similar design, actually, once I get ahold of some L.A. flails. So much to do, so little time.

Nah.. if you made it smaller it probably wouldn't show up well at all.the mail came out a bit too big.
I've not. I'll keep an eye open for it, though. Although if it has King Richard swinging around a claymore -- I'm not sure I'd be able to sit through it.Have you seen teh movie "Kind Richard and the Crusades"
That would be a flail. And the only contemporary accounts I'm aware of put a sword or rod (a type of small mace, more symbolic than functional) in his hand rather than a flail.but dont forget he also has his double chained mace which i believe was his historical weapon of choice

Actually, he banned them from being used against other Christians. Not that that did a whole heck of a lot.but then the Pope outlawed them.
Ahem.. flail.i had been planning to do a Richard with a mace
