Bruce,

BF PDX was my first intro to the AFOL community and I got to met lots of great folks like Joe Meno who built the Nazgul-steed. During the public expo every person under 20 knew instantly what it was. We added an Eowyn to complete the effect. Joe is of course the Space Paparazzi, so I'm sure he has some great pics. I wonder if we shouldn't capitalize on the LOTR success and do more along those lines in DC in August.

BTW, I have seen your LOTR work on your site and I admire it very much. Helm's Deep is especially impressive. Keep up that great work! I hope to show my own stuff soon using the links you posted earlier.

I like the detail on your inn. Clever to include the Clickits elements. Did you hear any "Mommy, what are those people doing?" questions during the public display? BTW, what is that one woman doing with a bird?

The inside wasn't visible during the public display. As Expo coordinator I was rushing around so much I didn't really get to listen in on comments.

As to what the birdlady does with the bird... The answer is: whatever you want her to do. If you have enough cash, that is.

Well, I was fortunate enough to be at the display for most of the public expo asnwering questions and the purple building was a big hit. As for the bird, well the OCC is in a tough part of Portland and we locals know better than to come between a woman and her bird...

Hello Everyone - am working on my PDX report now -

Award winners were:
Small: James Brink's Trebuchet
Medium: Mark Rideout's Winter Fort
Large: Kim Toll's Red Cathedral

As for Lar's Purple Building - well, I offered people to show them the insides of buildings, as they are all beautifully detailed. Quite a few times an adult would ask about the prominent purple building, and I had to quietly decline to show. (Usually whispering to the parent that it was a bordello - which would garner a few laughs)

I was incredibly impressed with the quality of MOCs that came - especially the ones I didn't expect.

Everyone who wanted to come and couldn't - enjoy the pictures and start saving up. If you start now, buying gas or a plane ticket won't be such a bad thing.

And trust me, what you see on the pictures ain't nothing compared to actually being there!
