First of all, sorry that I have placed it in the wrong poll.
We have a vacation house in France in the Allier (a department), very near to the ruins of the main castle of the Bourbon family. http://images.google.nl/imgres?imgurl=h ... =nl&start= This is only the keep, which had 6 towers. The castle was destroyed in the Frence Revolution.
I haven`t been there (not yet ), but I have searched pictures of it on the internet, and its realy cool, but most of the city walls is gone. But have you seen Toledo? It´s a wonderful city too, also very medieval.
You should realy do that .Sometime next year I'm going to go to europe and visit a few ruins

Ha! Toledo?! Been there done that. Madrid, Barcelona?! Saw them! Zamora?! Nice town really, signed Portugal's independence treaty over 880 years ago.
I've been there. But to see a real city, go to GUIMARAES. Now thats a real town.

You know you're a good person when you see megablocks and have to do things you would rather not.

Very cool looking town. It almost doesn't look real. I half expect to see Mickey Mouse walking around down there.

Hmmm... Must have missed that part of town all these years. Oh... wait... wrong Toledo. D'oh!Maedhros wrote:But have you seen Toledo? It´s a wonderful city too, also very medieval.

Whell, thanks for the tip, its cool, but the foto`s on internet are always from the same side, I got the impression that there is only a small bit left, or that it is just a castle. I think I like carcassonne more. But to see a real city, go to GUIMARAES. Now thats a real town.
Here is another great castle. (I notise this castle, becouse the is space in it for a whole town.) It is the castle of Angers.
http://www.falconcrest.com/images/angers.jpg and http://www.danieljoubert.com/photo02/ph ... angers.jpg, and the massif gate: http://www.viaggiaresempre.it/12_Angers.jpg
This Is my most favourite castle, It has 17 towers, Every tower has a diameter of 18 meters. The walls are 30 or 40 meters high. The towers are as high as the walls are, which is caused by Henry the 3rd. He thougt that if the enemy would take Angers, that it was impossible to retake it.
Whell, that is a real castle!!!

Back in the 90s, there was this documentary show on TLC called "Great Castles of Europe". This was my favorite of them all. It was no mere Castle it was a Citadel, a kind of super-castle. Considering its size... Carcassonne is MASSIVE.

As cool as Carcassonne is, I prefer the look of Mont St. Michel. Still, great stuff.
Later.
