Christmas Ornaments *Updated 12/27*

Here's a few Christmas ornaments I built this year for our first Christmas tree.

This one is a simple wrapped package, using my modest collection of gold bricks. To tell the truth, I'm three gold bricks shy of the full 16 necessary, so I used tan 2x4s in their stead. I put them all in one corner, so they're pretty well hidden right now. The package is 5 x 9 studs and 4 and 2/3 bricks tall. The bow on top is about two bricks tall, and also serves as the hangar for the ornament.

This one is based off the gold one, but using 2x2s instead of 2x4s, giving it a 5x5 stud footprint. The bow is very different due to the lack of parts, but it also has a hole for the hangar.

This is a nifty little snowflake I made. I was a little concerned about being able to use SNOT without white headlight bricks or technic bricks, but I think I did pretty well besides.

I have one more design in the works, but I'm waiting on a BL order.

EDIT

As I wait for my BL order, I made this second snowflake ornament. This time, no SNOT, real simple.

Those are sweet, Anthony! I especially like the snowflake. And the SNOT technique you used worked just fine. In fact, I think it is better than the headlight or technic bricks. The plates in the middle of the flake give it more of a filigree effect, which is much more elegant. Good Job!

Very interesting technique on the snowflake, and the present ornaments are really nice as well. What's cool is that you'd probably have to look twice to see that they're LEGO.

Well, my Bricklink order came in, a few days too late, but we keep the tree up for a while after Christmas anyway.

So here are my new ornements - decorative Lowell Spheres:

All in all, these were really fun to build, if a bit parts intensive.

Cool stuff, Tony! I built the same thing, only in sand green. Amazing how many parts these things suck up. I'm going to make a bricklink order so I can have more of these next year!

This is a really great idea! I like the snowflakes and the white globes the best - they really look good agains the tree and the christmas lights. Great work, and good thinking - that's a pretty unique idea.
