I wasn't going to, but inspriation struck me. Hard.
As some of you may be aware, Britian was an outpost of the Roman Empire. When they abandoned their outposts, it was "left" to the missionaries to "tame" it. So, depending on your historical bias, either of these could be the hero or the villian. As to which, I'll leave that up to you.
First, we have the generally-accepted heros, the residents of the Monestary. Or, in this case, convent. She's a bit freaked out, as you can see. Though, why they built their church RIGHT ON the water I've yet to figure out.
I now give you the "villians", the northmen who aren't quiiiite ready to listen to the priests. So sayeth Saint Augustine, "I am not to blame because they do not understand."
At least they're kind enough to knock on the door. Ding Dong!
I also considered a comment about riding the surf, but I wasn't sure it fit in context.

Hey Darkie!
This entry cracked me up! Something along these lines has been rattling around in my head for while (not vignette size though), but nothing has come of it. This compression of the whole idea is hysterical! I love the idea of the Vikings riding their ships right in the door.

I agree with Sheen on this one - that's some great brick-work there to make the water look very fluid and moving. Also, I like how you made the boat a cross-section. Well done.Sheen wrote:I really like the waves with foam being pushed before the prow of the ship. Good job with this one Darkie!

Thanks!
I know that if I stare hard enough and long enough at my PAB cups, inspiration will strike.
The blue wave-like pieces, the clear 1x1 round plates, and the bulk of the boat are from PAB. The boat is actually mostly 2x3 brown plates. The tan pieces and the brown 1x2 bricks come from there, as well.

I think it's great!Let me know what you think!
The scene looks like one of them Arabian stories. With the hero, the villain and the damsel in distress. The sword fighting action is set up good.
Overall I give it a 9/10. (I think it's good but not the eye popping, jaw dropping good)

That villian part of the vig is really cool - the tower is great (talk about maximizing your allotted space for building!) and best of all... that villian head. I had totally forgotten about that minifig head, but it looks perfect in your vig. I really love it!
The hero is cool too - I like his shield a lot. Still, it's hard to rate it fairly when overshadowed (literally) by the cool villian side.

Thanks! That was pretty much what I was going for. And I appreciate the 9/10. I agree, it isn't jaw-dropping, not really anything that is astoundingly creative, but I am happy with how it turned out.TheOrk wrote:I think it's great!

Thank you! Glad you like the tower, I built it and then realized that it might be too big! I was very relieved when I saw that dome was exactly twelve studs across. That villian head is pretty nifty, huh? It makes a wicked shadow knight too...ottoatm wrote:That villian part of the vig is really cool - the tower is great (talk about maximizing your allotted space for building!) and best of all... that villian head. This be my Hero/Villain entry. It depicts a "Knight" [in the loosest sense of the word] being almost ambushed by two Vikings. He's got other problems even with the Vikings out of the way...

Nice use of the Exo-force head, along with the spear positioning in a flying-kick!
I think I'll enter this contest too...
