A way to make good looking brick walls.

This is just an idea I had one day...

I would build it in real life, but I don't have enough red 1x2 plates, so here it is in Ldraw. Take a look at let me know what you think.
It would have to be built that long, or twice as long, for it to fit prefectly within a LEGO building... This could also used as a "wattle and daub", if you use tan or yellow instead of red, and black or brown istead of grey.

That's an interesting idea. As for framework it's good. As for a brick wall it's not as good, though :-) The bricks had to be shifted, so that not two vertical grooves are put on top of each other.

I'd have to agree with jojo about how it looks as a brick wall. however, i do like the usage of snot - something i am very excited about seeing - first James's latest creations, then Alan's cool archer window - i really love seeing the use of sophisticated techniques (snot) as solutions.

looking at your wall makes me want to try a snot tudor house of the same style.

OK, so I know that SNOT stands for "studs not on top" but i still have no idea what it is. A panel? one of those bricks with studs on the side?

Sometimes I have toyed around with this idea in my head (W/o the grey part). If one could get enough red, dark red*, and orange 1x2 plates, I suppose a nice brick wall could be made.


*If there is such a plate in that color.

I think it is supposed to be a brick wall. If you look closely, you will notice that the vertical grey parts are 1x8 tiles

If I understand your question correctly: SNOT is a technique whereby the usual orientation (studs up) is ignored. In castle, it is not used as much as in space creations.

the 'brick wall' mentioned above is SNOT because it uses tiles on their side instead of 1x1 bricks stacked to achieve the tudor-esque effect.
