Joe Vig the Gaijin

Post by Dunechaser »

Not to be outdone by Sir Nelson, I thought I'd try building my own Japanese-themed vignette. One thing led to another, and Joe Vig showed up. "Gaijin" means "foreigner" in Japanese.

"Joe discovers that there are grave consequences for foreigners who fail to remove their shoes upon entering a Japanese home."

Nice job. The house interior looks great, and it's about time we see some more use of those beak pieces as shoes. But is it true, people over there get killed for not removing their shoes?

Keep up the good work.

Yes. Every Japanese attic has from one to six ninjas (depending on how wealthy the family is) waiting to pounce on unsuspecting foreigners. Just when you think it's safe, BAM!!! A band of ninjas appears in a puff of smoke! That is how my father lost both his legs. They let him off lightly because he was a minister.

Glad you like this one. :D

 I knew it!

Anyway, I am once again glad to see that your Lego is unpacked. The vig is well done, and like Graynar, I also like the interior of the house.

And I'm barefoot, btw. :P

That actually happened to my aunt once (almost...)

My mother was married to a Japanese man and lived in Japan and when her sister came to visit her she just walked right in... She got a real telling off from some angry old Japanese men :P

Anyway, the vig is great. I´m very happy with this uprise in Japanese creations...

Hehe. Like I've always said, I love humourous vigs. I would be upset if someone with shoes that big walked right on into my house too! Well done, nice details, like the other shoes outfront. I really like the use of the sloped brick for kneeling, I will have to remember that.

... or at the very least, 1 UC. :)

We observe this Japanese tradition where I live, and I am grateful for that.
Very good Joe Vig vignette... Glad to see that you are on a building streak! Keep it up!

They just take off their shoes because they don't want to vacuum...

I forgot to take off my shoes once when entering my own apartment, and now the carpet is all dirty...

Anyways, it is a very funny MOC. Great job.

Very nice detailing there! Love the use of the tooth pieces, now we know that he musty wear white footwear!

I think its pretty much the same reaction if you dont remove the shoes in sweden... Ive never seen one walking into a house with the shoes on so i cannot confirm if a viking would come and bash you down! :D

A Viking?
They'd also probably end up with chicken and beer missing from their fridge.

Anyways, this is a great moc.
I didn't realize how seriously the Japanese take their "shoes off" custom.

Given the choice of having my shoes off or my head off....I think I would prefer my shoes off.

Neat Vig Dunechaser. I like how the first pic gives the Ninja's blade a shine.

Also, in Chinese culture it seems like they have you take off your shoes too, unless that's just a Chinese American thing

I'm glad everyone liked this one too! :D

I think taking shoes off before entering the house is a generally Asian thing -- at least it was in the Asian places I've been to (Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, etc.).

And Hordesman, I'd love to see a Viking version of this vig.

I like it. :)
It's very well built, and the idea is great too.
BTW, does this mean you've finally unpacked your bricks?
