I have done some blacksmithing too. I like the two handed effect (may have to steal that) but if the smith needed two hands, he's a wimp.
Red hot metal is actually quite soft, if you strike it that hard, it will kind of squish out. Most striking is relatively gentle (strike firmly but one handed). Now that apprentice...he's one tough cookie! Even with gloves on, there is no way I would grab a red hot bar! But then he is an apprentice.
Just some minor criticisms, you do great work!
