Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

Post by CAI »

This scene was inspired by the very beginning of the book Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas by Dr. Hunter S. Thompson. One of my favorite authors. :D

"We were somewhere around Barstow on the edge of the desert when the drugs began to take hold. I remember saying something like “I feel a bit lightheaded; maybe you should drive...” And suddenly there was a terrible roar all around us and the sky was full of what looked like huge bats, all swooping and screeching and diving around the car, which was going about a hundred miles an hour with the top down to Las Vegas."

Raoul Duke, Thompsons persona.

Dr. Gonzo, Oscar Zeta Acosta - Thompsons maniac lawyer

The Car, a Cadillac eldorado.

I've never read the book, but this looks really good. I like how you made the car roomy and detailed, while still keeping a decent Lego feeling. Well done!

Oh, this is very nice!

I haven't read the book either, nor seen the movie, but you have obviously captured a scene with great detail. The Caddy is awesome! Man, that is so cool! The characters look rather sleezey, which I believe you were trying for. And the whole scene with the stretch of highway and the swarming bats is inspirational.

I dig vigs like this, inspired by a favorite book. I am truly inspired to do a scene from one of my favorite books.

*brain gears turning*

That is an awsome job on the caddy. It looks jsut a touch big for minifigs, but really its not a big deal.

Waaaaaait. Is this the movie with Johny Depp and he's like some drug dealer dude and goes to Las Vegas?

Oh, and the car is amazing. It captured the boxy look of the actual car, with still being made of Lego. A job very well done.

I live in Barstow! :D There's hardly any rain here though. :(
I have no idea what's going on in those pics, but I suppose it has something to do with certain "effects". The car looks very nicely built and sleek. I also like the road and the yellow divider in it, which is a nice touch.

Thanks guys, glad you like. This one was fun to build, tried to build the car to scale - first and probably last car i'll try. The figs are definitely off scale - but look decent while sitting I think. I never took a picture with them standing by the car for that reason..the door area is almost above there heads. :D

Edit: When I was looking for parts for Raoul Duke and found that head, I couldn't beleive it. LEGO must have release that head for this reason. Just to perfect...except the cigarette and holder.

Excellent representation. Cadilacs, being so huge, would be very difficult to scale to a fig and I think you have done a great job here.
